funniest moments for me:
- the dance-offs between the dub war regulars and the bridge-and-tunnel crews. it got to a point where you couldn't tell who was making fun of who and it was still all smiles.
- the thonged goth girl leaving nothing to the imagination.
- and the funniest, early on a group of about five jersey kids, couldn't've been more than 18, were standing in the middle of the crowd. a couple were dancing, booty-style, but looking confused. there was a huge bass drop and as the beat comes in hard, one of the girls squeals, "ew, techno!" and drags her friends out of the room! i about fell over.
great meeting everyone - santa cruz folks, some of the regulars i'd not met before, loef and pokes obviously, etc. and great seeing everyone again. the friendliest vibes! i love it.

-big ups Gamma getting dropped twice and reloaded twice.
-big ups goth girl in thong and her slave.
-Sgt pokes hyping the crowd over Loefah's nasty set (thnx for the 3rd Choice remix)
-good to see the ny crew again.

my brain's still too fried to form complete sentences but just some thoughts on the night....
the venue worked out alright i think. the sound was big. drinks were pricey though. the bridge and tunnel contingent wasn't so bad i thought! it was cool seeing lotsa different people getting down to the sounds - the goths, the wasted asian crew, the young jersey kids.
massive thanks and respect to all who travelled far to reach. and also to the locals who didn't let the venue change deter you.
hank shocklee camped out in the back and was LOVING it. he is completely feeling the sound. i can't even tell you how i reacted when this man introduced himself. i couldn't get my head around the fact that it was actually him! an absolute legend. it was an honor to have him in attendance.
moldy. big up to you brother! that set was an eye opener. serious new beats in the box.
church is always in session when joe's on the decks and that was truer than ever this time. no one has the energy this man has. big big set. amazing tunes from distance, quest, and mystikz.
loefah on a big system is a force to be reckoned with. the sheer size of the sound is really staggering. mud in particular just seemed like it was causing the room to expand. third choice remix floored me as well.
mr pokes and juakali came with pure personality and nothing could replace what they brought to the vibe that night.
a few tunes that i need to call out. darkstar 'saytar.' large up to you bro this tune is big. secret agent gel. you know the tune my friend. hope you enjoyed hearing it on that system as much as i did. shackleton on skull 03 took it deep. loving this one. the sizzla vocal on 'tales from the cript.' out to mrk1 that one caused damage. loe's candyfloss rub. sorry bro i couldn't hold on to that! caspa 'rubber chicken' the wonkie donkey! new l-wiz business and pinch's qawali vip serious!
out to all the u.s. producers contributing to the sound's progress!.... moldy, secret agent gel, dtl, mathhead, i-sound, dev79 and starkey just for starters
i think this night in all its initial madness and confusion and its final incarnation at avalon was a step forward for the scene in the states in some ways. not entirely different from dmz's last minute move to mass though in this case for different reasons. anyways it's onward and forward for the first birthday bash in june. out to the man like skream get ready brother!
many thanks to cliff dj seoul for flexing your big dog status and being able to get us the chapel on such short notice. you are a don! and out to the seckle in a big way for helping deal with all the craziness.
most importantly out to the dub war massive who once again came with mad positivity and energy and have made every event something that is truly an honor to be a part of.

LOL... 2 days later and still hungover, still out of money, still don't know how I made it back to the train...
You filthy bitches rocked my world. Nuff respect. We need some Plastician love back in the NYC, btw.
It's bed time for me, but I want to put a special shoutout to Juakali, Pokes and Loefah!!!
Juakali and Pokes gave me a new respect for MC's. They got us hyped, clowned on the crowd, clowned each other... clowned the DJ's... pure jokes... all in good fun, good taste... they weren't just mumbling up there... dudes know how to ride a beat like no other. You better respect the DMZ kru each and every time. Joe Nice... what can I say about Joe Nice, except... don't play so late, man... my legs were SHOT by the end of Moldy's set, and that was the first of the night...
Dave Q... I'd never heard this man. SOLD! Fucking picked up and followed one of the best sets I've heard, with another of the best sets...
and on and on... Loefah. Man, either they turned the system up, or his tracks are just 1000% better than anyone elses... SOMETHING.
Loefah and Pokes and the NY/Ct/TX/Philly kru for breakfast was the hype shit, too.
Rekall. Rekall is the man, for sure. Everyone out on that dancefloor was getting rough and tumble. Moshpits randomly breaking out. Got the Gino's and the club bitches came in rollin on them pills... they didn't know what the fuck to do.
had the asian kru scankin across the floor...
I've still got numbess in my legs, which gives way to shooting pain, every 5 or so minutes... HUGE HUGE HUGE.
June 23rd, motherfucker!!!
Loefah and Pokes, please come back ASAP. Hope you cats had as much fun as we had. BIG, MY GOD!!!

I had a GREAT shot of her thong hugging those... err, ya know.nickargon wrote:does anyone have more pictures of the girl in the white top / black skirt, who was so graciously advertising my label?
