WEEK 003

Image

WINNING COMPETITIONS

Winner of "The Dogs On Acid vs. Drum & Bass Arena" production competition — where his music was picked by John B as the best out of 20 tracks by other producers, the DNBforum.nl production competition — being picked by the public as the winner out of 30 other producers and finally winning the Knowledge Magazine radio unsigned competition.

INTERNATIONAL RADIO PLAY

Panda is now continuously receiving airplay on all major Drum & Bass radio stations in the world, including BBC's flagship station Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, Kool FM, Bassdrive, Jungletrain, and an endless list of other stations, on shows such as Mary Anne Hobbs's Breezeblock, The M1X Show with Sappo, Bailey's Intabeatz, L Double's Connexions and Flight's Next Chapter, with an estimated 4 million listeners tuning in to his music on BBC Radio 1. Panda's track Baghdad was featured as the offical BBC 1Xtra Drum & Bass download in 2007, being played on every single Drum & Bass radio show on 1Xtra for 2 weeks long.

Apart from radio, his music has been featured three times in a row in the official Drum & Bass Arena podcast mixes, which for weeks have been in the Top 4 in the iTunes charts, as well as Paul B's legendary NuBorn mix series.

INTERNATIONAL DJ PLAY

His tracks are being played all over the world by major players in the Drum & Bass industry, such as Fresh, Bad Company UK, Simon Bassline Smith, Mary Anne Hobbs, Bailey, Flight, L Double, Sappo, Unknown Error, Skyver & D-Jon, A-Sides, Muffler, Alex M, Mutated Forms, Alex H, Paul B, Diode and many more, in front of dancing crowds of up to 40,000 people.

NATIONAL SUPPORT

With a rising support for his music in his home country the Netherlands, Panda was voted the 3rd place in the category Best Dutch Producer at the official Dutch Drum & Bass Awards of 2005 — alongside Noisia, Martyn, Black Sun Empire and Limewax.

In 2006 he has begun playing shows around the Netherlands featuring a mixture of his own music and exclusive tracks from fellow producers around the world.

He has since played alongside the biggest DJs in Dutch Drum & Bass including Adi-J, Thrasher, Flavour, Druid, Tek, USB, Fox and MCs such as Quest One, Dapper, DART and Multiplex at venues including 't Paard van Troje, Bibelot, Metropool and Bazart.

INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT

His music has been played over 11,000 times on the popular MySpace social network being the highest ranked Dutch Drum & Bass musician on it as well as ranking in the top 10 pages of all Dutch musicians.

LABEL DEMAND

With the demand for his tracks rising, Panda has received several offers to sign his music up to record labels yet has not received the right offer yet. Not to worry though, he has enough time left on his hands at his age.

PANDA RUNS TWO D&B NIGHTS

Aside from producing Panda also runs events promoting Drum & Bass music.

He has been one of the minds behind the bi-monthly night REAKTOR. The night is a mix of popular and techstep Drum & Bass music. It has quickly become one of the most well known club nights in The Hague. It was featured and read about by 3+ million people in the Dutch No. 1 selling Veronica Magazine. At the end of 2006 he left for new promoting ventures.

To promote Drum & Bass in his own hometown Panda set up ONE, which is the only active Drum & Bass night in Nijmegen. The night focusses solely on accessible dancefloor Drum & Bass, bringing DJs and producers all over to the outskirts of Nijmegen.

Panda has hold one residency at Reaktor and one at ONE. Both nights have continuously been sold out since their inception.
