morality is based off religion. so every time you don't do something bad its because of the bible. not some pious sense of right or wrong that you'd never not know you'd have because how of heavily interwoven the ethics of christianity is into our society.

The bible actually dosent say how old the earth is. The whole 6000 years thing was made up by some ancient fedora guy who added all the birth dates of biblical figures together.dickman69 wrote:Nah but it does say the Earth is 4000 years oldfaultier wrote:i'm fairly sure the grand canyon and mammoths aren't mentioned in the bibledickman69 wrote: grand canyon built in a day, mammoths froze to death immediately

One heck of novel.
God is so mean in part one, yet he is so nice in part two.

Re: Do Christians actually believe everything in the bible?
actually, Jesus had nothing to do with the bible
it has been the christian Church that's pushed it as fucking holy
imo, the followers of Jesus' wisdom
would've been better dumping all the jewish twaddle,
particularly the begat nonsense, prophecies of a messiah (which eventually lead to that lunatic Mohammed)
wild astro-biological theories & the cultural tenets of the Old Testament
and stuck to certified miracles, Jesus' social revolution manifesto & historical accounts of love-ins,
to write an avowedly subjective account of his life,
open to interpretation and change according to anthropological discoveries
and eventually disposable once parables and allegories were understood for what they were.
that way Jesus basic message would've remained pre-eminent
(love each other & don't accept shit from those who would oppress you)
rather than the supernatural guff and institutional dogmatism
that enslaved much of mankind for thousands of years.
btw, in a broad sense, I consider myself a Christian.

Bible is anti Gay, I don't think there is anything wrong with being Gay. Neither do most of the people i know, if we are all using the bible then how come we have such different morals from it?. In fact the biggest problem most people have with God botherers is that the ethics in the Bible is out of touch with modern life. The idea that without the bible saying so i would go next door and rape my neighbors food and eat his wife is jokes. Confusing morality with control too the bible does not contain morality its about control through fear in a time where morality was pretty hazy so they used another tactic.
The Catholic church rebrand atm is pretty peng tho, might start going to Mass

Nothing wrong with a bit of religion, it makes some people happy. just people who take it too seriously are a bit fucked in the head. And pretending its the cornerstone of our morality

Same as militant atheists, chill the fuck out and just do whatever
