Nar it wasn't paul smith. It was some guy called Vince something. Not sure what to make of him at the mo. He seemed ever so slightly sketchy. Maybe me readin into things too much i dono. He gave me a mix cd with some pretty good grime on tho. [/quote]

Yeah man. It'd be amazing to get something started up that way. You've got to remember that students in Liverpool don't like to leave the confines of hardman street, smithdown and the bollox in town centre. And socializing with local people is also strictly prohibited.

I don't know whether I've got a rose tinted view of Leeds, but there just seems to be so much more of a relationship between the students and the locals. Liverpool seems very segregated to me. Perhaps I'm just bitter.

"European capital of nice pavements"- Fuckers

In fact, should ask the council to give us money to do something at the carribean centre for '08.

That'd be good.

Ah mate your so right! When i went to the last DMZ in Leeds it was rammed with all sorts of people, not just students, not just dubstep heads. and it felt like every1 was kinda united. (I was that fucked either!) There are so many small nights in Liverpool but they all seem to work against each other in stead of together to create a scene.
Its all good the bein the capital of culture but building a sky scraper here and throwing money about the place doesnt create culture. Culture is created by people and at the mo no1 seems to give a sh*t. Not to be -ve about the whole thing. I'd be well up for doing something like that.
I think the great thing about dubstep is the way it is fueled by a community so to speak. Thats what music should be about. Bringing people together.... I've only just started using this forum properly but it really is a brilliant idea!

So so cheesy but its true!

Alright lid!

Who knows about:
'Chrome'
'X Amounts of Drum X Amounts of Bass'
'Voodoo @ Le Bateu'
.. and all types of naughtiness at the 'Lemon Lounge'

Those were the days!

Funny I was looking through all the photos I took at chrome years ago, so many gurning faces! lol I should post em up.

I still have a video I took of GrooveRider when he played an all nighter for Chrome @ SoundFactory. Really takes me back watching that stuff. lol.

hello there. im a scouse stepper to the extreme.

few points -

Liverpool has been very very slow to catch onto Dubstep, there are lots and lots of reasons for this.
One HUGE reason in my opinion is that Liverpool has a major influence in peoples reasoning for going out, and that is Chibuku.
They are a majorly influential club night, an international brand, and they dominate proceddings in this city. The power and influence they have in this city is unprecedented.
I have worked my bollocks off this past 2 years getting Chibuku to listen.
getting them to get onto the fact there is a movement sweeping this nation that this city needs to be part of.
After months and months of me nagging and nagging and nagging them, they finally relented and did the night in Feb this year with Mary Anne and myself, which went off. A few more months nagging has now seen them book Skream this weekend aagin with myself, and believe me I will not stop nagging them for more.
That Mary Anne night was hugely important for this city as it introduced so many new comers who had dismissed Dubstep into seeing how it works in a club. The amount of emails I get saying 'I just didnt get it until that night' is unreal. It was a landmark getting a night that doesnt NEED to pay attention to Dubstep to actually put their money in their pockets and do it.

Back at the beginning of 06 I took a risk and booked Mark 1 & The Skull Disco Crew. It didnt work. Partly down to me being far too busy to promote properly and relying on my nights core regulars (who didnt show), and partly because no one bar a few had a fucking clue who these guys were. I then had a mad couple of months where I made a shitload of money from puttin on Venetian Snares, which I promptly lost puttin on DTL + Mathhead and Evol Intent. Coupled with this I had some bad personal problems and I just fucked everything off for a while cept Dj'ing.

Tom has stepped up to the mantle and is doing a sterling job he really is.
He is determined and hardworking and he is a credit to this city (even if he is a Chorley Chav at heart  )
There are so many small nights in Liverpool but they all seem to work against each other
this aint true really. Me + Tom are in constant contact, and we both have plans for our respective nights that will hopefully, and ive got a feeling will definitley see Liverpool step up a gear next year.
Coupled with this our close relationship with The Hive Crew, who have MASSIVE plans for 08 year, this city is looking finally ready to embrace this music properly.
Tom has worked hard for this Liverpool Music Week night, and it shows a great leap in having Benga in a booklet alongside The Kaiser Chiefs and Hard Fi and the like.
I know who Tom has got for January and he knows who ive got for March, and we both went 'woah' when we told each other.
Me personally, I needed to get teh bug back for promoting, and im telling you now, ive got it.
Every single year I draw up a wishlist of people I wanna get, and every year ive managed to get 60-70% of them. I always get my man
And believe, if you saw my wishlist, and the progress im makin for next year, you would cry with joy, I have January-June all planned, with up until April already boxed.

Trust me, this city will be a mecca for Dubstep and Electronica next year

This is all very encouraging! Maybe its just the people i know who run nights that think its a solo mission. Didnt really mean a lot by that and obviously you cant sum up every small night in liv that easily......

My faith has been restored some what in the future music scene of liverpool.
Never heard of the Hive crew tho? Care to fill me in?

they do all sorts of electronic stuff at the Box at FACT. A couple of years ago they did a 2 day festival thing and the saturday night they had Kode 9 & Spaceape on at the korova with Pole, some spanish bloke who's name I've forgotten and someone else who's name I've also forgotten. I'd have happily stuck with Kode9 & Spaceape all night but there you go.

I think earlier on this year they had Biosphere on somewhere in the pool, which I misses due to work (as usual).

Rich. Your making me go a wet one there mate. Draw fi di kleenex. Big up yourself. Jasbof has been doing it since day.

Rally the troops. Forward movement. We'll make it happen.

Hive do a wicked job and they've got council funding for next year. Watch this space for news on all kinds of Electronical shinanigans.

See everyone in the dance on Saturday night. Show your support for the Liverpool scene.

A Drop-fest wobble-off party sound track with more wheels than a millepede on rollerskates. It went down a treat.

He played some stupid new Benga stuff and fuckin nutter towards the end. Heavyweight.
