Ashley wrote:Im not knocking Rusko - the I love these tracks especially Mr Chips and the CD is heavy but just wanting people to air their opinions and start a discussion, on what you believe Rusko is creating? I am not sure if its going to be a sub genre of dubstep or whether it sounds alot like minimal techno or some influenced jump-up dnb.
Dubstep is a young genre and unfortunately I'm already seeing people wanting to put genre and sub genre classifications on everything... just like dnb less than a decade ago. that shit is lame and pretentious. If the shit is hot bump it. Let's not set up boundaries on creativity.
I get frustrated because as a producer who is into Hip-Hop, Dub, Reggae, Dancehall, Trip-Hop etc. I get mad when people say shit the gayest shit. Like I might play a tune for some dubstep heads they'll say some shit like "that's cool but really this is more like future dub not dubstep...." ? but do you like the tune? Even back when Dnb was bubblin' I'd be bumping Amon Tobin and people would be like "That's cool.... but it's not really jungle" Who the fuck cares. It's good MUSIC. meanwhile the whole dnb genre went to shit because people stopped taking creative risks.... there were rules and formats put in place. "This is Tech-Step", This is Clown-step, this is Barmitsva-Tech" =)
Yall feel me?

On the subject of jump up DNBs influence on dubstep, just was listening to this clip of a new Clipz tune
http://rapidshare.com/files/70420219/yoursougly.mp3
And I'm struck by how tunes like Spongebob seem to be going for the same fizzy madly filtered bass that producers like Clipz and Hazard use in their tunes- I wonder if thats a direct influence on Coki?

There are clips, not entire shows. But 'The Thick of It' is on youtube in its entirety and that's either almost as good or better.

Depends what you are buying the record/cd for...if your buying it for a party it will go down overly well...if your buying it to cotch and listen to on a quiet night in it might not be your thing...
I think Rusko is hitting the nail on the head with releasing hectic tunes, they suite the dancefloor/club perfectly and i think you'll agree when he plays a set of mostly his own stuff it goes off!

Right! Very underrated. Actually these two are my faves from the mentioned Sub Soldiers releases.
Same here. The cheesy cut-up vocal in Love Is Real ruins it a bit though.

anything that caspa and rusko collaborate on is gold. Caspa is a Bad man Producer, hands down. Rusko's old stuff (horns cru, love is real ( though love is real has a different sound than most dubstep tunes, but hey, its inovation), Jahova to name a few) is good stuff. A lot of natural sounds ie horns, trumpets it sounds like. Very Dubby. His new stuff does sound like its from the future. Its as though he is trying to take caspa's trademark basslines and put his personal spin on them. It comes off more synthy than anything else. I do enjoy his older tunes like horns cru more than his new ones like mr chips. oh and btw, i have been playin fabriclive 37 on repeat on my non brand specified mp3 player (no shameless plugs for apple) and right now its on hammer time, which is a good track. but back to the subject at hand. Rusko is a good producer when he sticks to what he knows: the less futuristic sounds and the more dubby sounds. when caspa and rusko get together though, they combine caspas hard, distinct basslines with a rusko dub twist. Pure magic. So in short, Rusko = good producer, old tracks better than new ones. I think he'll get the feel for the futuristic sounds though. Keep up the good work.

Don't be soppy man! Rusko's making bangers, straight up! His tunes are mint!

don't judge someone on what you think the scene should be about. It would be shit if all dubstep was like burial or boxcutter. Big up Rusko and his unapologetic, tongue in cheek, BANGERS! And no one smashes a dancefloor like him, apart from Bengahaha.
I want my beats to sound like arrhythmia.

rusko's definetley got his own sound. I rate his sound though, jahova, cockney thug, pretty much all the tracks on the fabric live cd are too big for words, cant wait for Babylon Vol.2 big up Rusko

Rusko and caspa are the best producers in the scene. I love their dancefloor orientaed, high energy and sik bassline style, there use of wobbles etc is maybe dubsteps best elemant i recon. we defo defo need theese high energy jump up trks to skank to in raves and prove that dubstep isnt just for ppl to knod their heads to and chillout. its like how skream got big i think, tunes like on skreamizm 3, chest boxing etc were prity energetic dancefloor style but orientated around the sik bass still, best way in my opinion. Rusko is sick, doing wonders for the scene
