As Michael Caine said "I've been poor and I've been rich. I prefer being rich".Parson wrote:you think people are happier now that they're even richer, have more shit, and less free time?showguns wrote:20 year old stats?
Don't need plenty more possessions and like having as much free time as possible, but being wealthier isn't something I'd reject. Money can't buy you happiness, but being poor is miserable and frustrating. I'd quite like to retire now if I could but I can only do that if I have money or somehow figure out how to live off the land.
Hmm....

Not everyone's miserable Parson. I'd like to see a big change in society where more emphasis was put on creative endeavours, social relationships and less on the almighty dollar, but unfortunately most of us (at the moment) don't have much of a choice in their wageslavery.Parson wrote:and that mindset is exactly why everybody is miserable
I have relatively few possessions at this age and I don't tend to fritter away money on much apart from going out and music. I'd enjoy myself a lot more if my workplace was less bureaucratic and I could work less, more efficiently for the same money and have more time off. It would also help if I wasn't taxed to shit and my landlord didn't have his eyes on that third/fourth house.
I generally agree with a lot you say Parson, even though I'll choose to disagree on others, but you do just alienate people by patronizing them and acting superior rather than accepting that most things aren't quite as black and white as you paint them.
Hmm....
