I'm a local Dj in Calgary, Canada and dubstep is pretty new idea to me.
It's hard to get into living in a City that struggles to have a local music or Electronic music scene at all...
The things i like so far are maybe not totally classified as dubstep but hit the boarders like Modeselektor and Burka som sistema
anyways point is

if anyone or many of you want to give me some top 5's of either all time, this year, or to spin in a set
i'm going down the local record store to pick some of this up
so your help is well appreciated!

thanks from Canada!

(to all people from London: i went to that record store in Soho when i was in London in Aug...wow you guys are lucky i wish i would have bough some of that place up...........)

eh, Calgary.... duh.. whut?

heh. TORMENT here, also in the land of OIL, $$$, BEEF & oversized pick up trucks! ahoy! Soth Records has bits and pieces in here and there. Haven't checked out Phonics since they re-opened, but sounds as if the mon Lorne B might be getting stuff in. Need to go check it out myself.

As for the "scene", i'd say 2007 was the year things went into deep deep hibernation in Calgary. Raves went bye bye. Small club gigs are still in tho.

boh?

its not even just the dub scene, rave scene any scene...Calgary has a really shitty music community....people can argue but we got nothing going on right now, i used to be really into hardcore bands too, but everyone broke up and moved on...its a strange thing in a city thats growing so fast.
