From an urban design point of view, that is an absolutely ridiculous building. It is laughably out of scale - what kind of shadow is it going to cast?

@ pdomino - Cyber City Oedo 808 is the one. All about Sengoku. What a badman.

I just watched that film. Bob Behr is a fascinating man. I am sure some, if not all of that flick was based on real events.

Bob was famous for sending "Memo's" during his CIA tenure

dubai is going to be absolutely ruined within the next 10 years i reckon, those shaped islands they build are ruining the coral ecosystem, the massive skyscrapers are becoming far too many in number, the place is being spoiled, a stupid amount of foreign money is floating around whilst the average Dubai citizen lives in squalor, with their only choice of work being building the skyscrapers, loads of them die from heat stroke or bad building practice each year....its shit man, for me Dubai is one of the greatest demonstrations of capitalist greed
Dubai isn't that poor or that hard done by mate, trust me. I do a Geography degree and Dubai is on the way to becoming the first Arab Tiger economy, mainly because it's using cheap south Asian labour and maintains a friendly outward image. Dubaians aren't really the people working to get these skyscrapers finished, most Dubaians work in tourism or the related industries and do fairly well.

Trust me, it's not that bad out there!
mate for a minority its not that bad, but there are still bare people living in slums and that

i just hate the whole concept of this new dubai in general "oooh yeah lets go there so we can show off our disposable income, and waste it on material shit, and then come back and tell all the other lads earning huge bonuses about how much coke we did"
And what about your own country that you live in?

People are homeless here too you know, and what makes it worse, the poor people in this country have to get two jobs to feed the mouths of their children they had at teenagers. Not like our people can just pitch up and start growing a crop like other nations.
its equally disgusting that homelessness in this country can't be sorted out, especially with the amount of money the UK has, don't me wrong in what i said ashley, i view that as an equally bad problem
