Perhaps. That is understandable that people are protective of their hard-learnt techniques, but a little sad, too.

Have you considered that some people would be more than enthused to share there tips if it meant that someone could do something completely fresh with that new knowledge, and thus push the genre forward?

Some of the producers on DOA have been very generous with regards to sharing their advice.

A fair point. There will always be lazy people who aim only to replicate whatever the big sound may be. But...

...if that is their motivation, then they will do it regardless, maybe just not as tightly.

I think it's a good idea, the ones on doa are all interesting reads... It's just whether the heads are up for it i guess
