But the emo kiddie thing really is not that at all - just a stupid pisstake. More like a form of "aspirational" depression...

fucking wake the fuck up :?

actually, they need some Cockney Thug in their lives
yeah thats what i was talking about, its sort of like being depressed is something cool to them, cutting is not funny or something to be desired, when its a real problem it quite literally tears people up, and depression is no fun either, got a bit of personal experience with that and it was not a good time at all

Tragic reli. sort of wonderin whether websites like that are glamourising something that really shouldn't be glamourised.

i get the feeling that maybe it does, had some similar horrible shit at the train station last year, some kid from my college jumped off the train station bridge in front of the train literally right in front of me....his fucking head came off man, was raw, and strangely enough (or maybe not so strangely) he was reputed as one of the emo's at the college

having seen this i can't help think that things like this emo forum glamorise cutting and suicide, as if to make a culture of it, its weird though, cos if they ever knew how shit you can feel when actually going through a hard time they would never want to emulate that, a lot of these kids just come from really good backgrounds and have nothing to really be down about....why you would ever WANT to feel depressed i'll never understand is my basic point

there's some line in south park about this sort of self-centered bollocks

something along the lines of "try living in a third world country, then you'll know what misery is"

I'll just say one more thing on this - hidden in amongst all the faux angst, attention seeking and emotional masturbation of the emo kids in general, there are probably a handful of genuinely disturbed young people for whom the rhetoric on suicide and self loathing resonates very strongly.

The problem is, because of all the other posers they associate themselves with, people like us write them off as being attention whores whereas, in fact, they genuinely have problems and need help. Because of all the other emos that cry wolf, they are not taken seriously. Dubluke's story above may be an example of the worst consequence of this. I think this is the biggest tragedy.

Grow the fuck up.

a poor attitude towards life, why instead of moaning about how unfortunate and depressing there life is, dont they help people who are really unfortunate, and not just moaning and pissing about it because apparently thats cool??? :? :?

My post sounds a little harsh but wasnt meant that way and is aimed at those who just follow the leader and develop problems themselves. Something I struggle to understand.

My biggest personal problem with 'emo' is the swooping side fringe they all seem to have. Thats a very special haircut and probably suits about 3 people the world over yet millions have adopted it as their own.

I'm quite fascinated by the tiny face on big head emo with said haircut who sulkily hands out flyers in the lanes. I don't know if you can get face expansion surgery but it might cheer him up a bit.

As for all these other sad sacks, boo-fucken-hoo (except the actually depressed ones, where a simple boo hoo will suffice).

I think my sensitivity training was worth every penny :D
Hmm....
