Best gig I ever saw was Solesides at the Kings X Scala. Lyrics Born, Lateef, Gab, XL and Shadow all on stage at the same time.

It was like finding a suitcase full of money, then finding out the suitcase is made of marzipan.

The best thing in the world ever.

Did anyone recognise the sample at the beginning of Skream's Traitor?

Original UK Hiphop form Hardnoise - two mental tunes.

gift of gab is one of the best emcees ever.... mad slept on...

imo, theres ALOT of hiphop that verges on dubstep, maybe not so bass heavy but.....

check some leftfield stuff like Orko Eloheem & Big Jus' N.M.S. (Nephelim Modulation Systems) on Big dada.... that "Last days" tracks on they most recent album is mad fun to mix with the dubstep.... Orko actually does alot of crazy things with beats on all his albums, including mad Jungle experimentation....

i dunno, all one music to me...

Think there was a dub remix album - "Dub Come Save Me" - think it's on that.

Whole dub remix album - geezer!!

Also "Riddim Killa" by Rodney P's wicked too.

i found 'horsepower productions - to the rescue' sounded heavily hiphop influenced.

ive been producing hiphop for the past 5 years. just making beats for friends and if they don't use them then i usually beef them up into an instrumental track with more changes in direction than say a straight beat. i got tired of programming the standard types of hiphop beat ages ago and moved onto more broken beats at the slower tempo. i love dubstep for the variety of beats mainly. i've started to move into producing more dubstep style stuff but im still getting to grips with programming interesting heavy sub-bass. it's all fucking good.

Love it or hate it, can't imagine dubstep would exist without it (not a direct descendant I know, but history of sampling/dj's/dance music would be a bit lacking without it). Horsepower did a remix of "Stick and Move" around 2001 I think, with the dub on one side and the vocal on the other and that came off pretty well, both sides are players.

While I'm not mad on current hip hop, has to be said that some rappers would sound amazing on dubstep records, depends on the style of the rapper and the track. I think someone like Saul Williams would sound incredible on a dubstep tune, Dead Prez did "Hip hop" with that low churning bassline and it's not that far off to my mind. If it's not just some acapella laid over the top, and it's done well, then anything goes.
Hmm....
