Capitalising The First Letter Of Each Word Is At Least More Readable Than Some Of The Retard Spelling, Grammar And Lack Of Punctuation That I See Around These Parts.

what i don't get is: what does it matter what anyone else uses? test things out, see what you work best with, and get that. people can tell me all day long that they love logic and cubase, both are great programs...but i can't stand them. what good would it do me to know that other people love them when i figured out quite quickly they really didn't work for me by testing them out?

download some demos, or play at a friend's studio, or just figure out what has the features that make the most sense to you. that is going to give you a better idea of what you would like best, rather than asking what others use.

or perhaps, if you want opinions, ask WHY people chose what they did. ask what they were looking for in a DAW. that is gonna be more helpful than anything else.

for the record: i use ableton live 5 and reason 3. ableton is simple but still has tons that can be done with it, i can use it to basically "jam" out tunes (which keeps me from being bored drawing in grids and is more like making music to me), it runs VSTs, and i can rewire reason into it. i like reason because it is also fairly simple, can be rewired into ableton, and doesn't use a lot of processor. also very small files so doing collabs is pretty easy.

so there are my picks and my reasons, but you need to figure out what you want out of a music program and get the one that fits the closest.

In all the software programs mentioned I see no mention of Acid. I used to use 3.0 to make ragga jungle tracks. Is the 5.0 version shitty?

im not too sure, i downloaded acid a while back before my computer mashed up, but i never rele sat down and spent anytime using it.

might have to download it again and see what its like.

Audacity is the open source of Acid. I messed with Acid for quite a bit, mainly just mixing my tunes, before I realized I could do everything I was using it for right in FL. The clip tracks editor in FL is basically Acid.

I've used from version 3 to 6 of Acid. All pretty much the same to me...think they added different VST support and stuff later on. Always hear people complaining about the sound engine being poor quality, but that's a matter of opinion. Many jungle heads still killing it with Acid...16 Armed Jack one of them.
