its the act of "interaction" that collapses wave-functions not just observers and especially not just human observers. Most of the universe interacts with some other part that was interacted with by another part and so on and so on. That film is a crock of shite anyway. They make massive and absurd leaps of faith (pun intended) and by the end of the film theyre talking about an ancient god called Ramtha and how the human mind can actually alter reality. I personally think that to be so bold and cocksure when it comes to what is essentially philosophy not physics is ignorant and discredits any useful and insightful research that really does hold true as theory and experiment.
