If people are asking questions about where to get samples and acapellas from they need to be told to google them it's just fucking lazy - "oh instead of spending 10 seconds trying to find something i will get someone else to do it for me"

If someone needs to be told what Cutoff, resonance, HP, BP, BR etc etc etc mean then they really need to have a look at a book about programming synthesisers even if it is just a basic one.

I spent hours and hours and hours learning techniques and getting to where I am today and I am still learning, like we all are. I find that if you can get to the end product yourself you can learn so much more than someone telling you the exact steps.

It seems now that every kid has a cracked copy of reason/fruity and wants to be the next Skream/Caspa/Rusko etc without putting much effort in and these people need to be pointed in the right direction and reminded that if you want to make good music you're going to have to put a bit of time and effort into it.

Also I was never spoon fed information at school or at Uni - if the information was freely available I was taught to go and seek it out rather than ask a load of dumb questions

i think to be fair, we're all in agreement ( maybe not) that its only the questions that are being repeated time and time and again that seem to piss people off.

to fall under the assumption that you can only make dubstep if you first visit dubstepforum is a bit off the mark... considering most of the questions are on general techniques that can obviously be applied in various genres in the first place.

less forum time, more experimentation, trial and error and music time!

Obviously its logical to use a resource like this and expect to benefit from it but it seems most people are wanting the fastest easiest least effort methods to do anything. i dunno about everyone else and how they prefer learning but i find you learn alot more by just doing...even if it doesnt turn out how you intended you probably encounter a new technique or 'trick' along the way which is alot more useful in the longrun to just knowing how to do this 'definite' technique to get this 'definite' result. i find it alot better when i dont have a set in stone idea about what im about to come up with. beats using your both 'mental' and sequencer template each time.

asides from melodies, surely making music should be such a loose expression that your not always thinking of the final outcome . its totally irrelevant during the making process. if it sounds shit but you enjoy it , who cares. people need to aspire to be themselves instead of being the 'next '....' all the time.

while endless threads of "google it" aint exactly great reading, they might in the long term have the effect of intimidating the lazy into helping themselves and thus making this place a little more useful for everyone. maybe.

perhaps its just me, but this forum seems much less instructive than it once was, cos u got to wade thru pages of the same old shit b4 getting to anything new and informative

not knowing about dubstep is one thing, and there r legitimate questions to be asked...but acapellas or kick drum samples r not something exclusive to dubstep, if u dont know how to use google then how the fuck u get to this forum in the first place. its just laziness
