well,
if your going to get rid of em all. I recon you need to sell to a collector or something similar.
but yur going to need to make a whole list of all the vinyls anyway. so what about doin that first? write up the artist-names of the lot?
at least so we can all have a potter.
i know a dude sold over 18,000 vinyls in one chunk. most the reggae in the world (ha) and made a tidy sum from it.
but its about finding the right man isnt it?

jesus. that's insane!
will post the list tonight. i already sold some of the super-rare stuff a few weeks ago (dmz002, dmz soul jazz plates etc..) but there's still PLENTY to get excited about.
i would prefer to sell in bulk, so if there is anyone relatively new to the scene who wants to spank their student loan a sick fuck-off collection straight away then this could be your time!
as you'll see from the list, the grime section of my collection will get grime vinyl heads very stupid in the face..

Or you could sell one record for over $150,000 like this guy did:

in my experience of trawling through ebay no one is gonna drop over a grand on records, no matter how many there are. i remember seeing two hundred pretty dope mid 90s hip hop records go for like 250 quid. So if i were you id sell the rare stuff, then put everything on discogs and start putting small batches on ebay. but if you want you can just send the grime to me

Maybe see if there is a local shop you could put them up on consignment through? The shop I used to work at, we did this for a few regular customers. Sure, you lose a little since the shop takes a cut, but it is convenient.
Just don't let the shop convince you to take store credit for the sales, get cash.

there are collectors in japan that will pay over $600 for one 12". it was hip hop vinyl, but still.linear wrote:in my experience of trawling through ebay no one is gonna drop over a grand on records, no matter how many there are. i remember seeing two hundred pretty dope mid 90s hip hop records go for like 250 quid. i've watched auctions go from $50 to $600 in a day for overseas bidders.
this is really hopeful...seckle wrote:there are collectors in japan that will pay over $600 for one 12". it was hip hop vinyl, but still.linear wrote:in my experience of trawling through ebay no one is gonna drop over a grand on records, no matter how many there are. i remember seeing two hundred pretty dope mid 90s hip hop records go for like 250 quid. i guess.. although i don't really see myself ever getting into serato etc and to be honest if i'm not gonna have them on vinyl i'd rather listen to all these tracks in a mix.elgato wrote: you should digitise (for personal use) before you flog though!
i guess i'll just have to make do with listening to oneman, slimzee and chef sets for the time being... and bruk rario of course.
(jesus, imagine onemanb2bslimzeeb2bchef @ plastic people!!
i'd say given the current appetite for dubstep, that the batch sell with a high reserve would be worth a shot - just in case you get lucky. will save a lot of hassle and you'll be quids in.
obviously depends how quickly you need the cash though i guess.

yea i think youre right for certain things but im sure benjybars knows if hes sitting on anything ultra-rare...as far as i know no ones paying really top prices for dubstep/grime stuff yet, ie. nothing over 100 quid a record so i dunno if thats too relevent. those japanese kids are nuts though, spending money id pay on a holiday just for a record....there are collectors in japan that will pay over $600 for one 12". it was hip hop vinyl, but still.

yeh i was thinking more for listening, cos some of the grime in particular im sure is hard to come by, but i guess with the amount of classic sets doing the rounds at the moment theres no need!
looking forward to seeing the listing

already there are so many tunes I want on that list, if this had happened about two months later I'd be going on a spending spree, but exams mean I have no money
