well, if I'm wrong for feeling that way, so should this guy, cause he feels the Caspa Rusko mix is shite, but maybe there is someone out there who happens to like that mix. I for one, have not heard it, so I cannot comment on that. It is perfectly natural for people to feel like they have the upper hand, maybe it's not cool to come out and say,"your music is garbage", but you can damn well feel like the music you like is better than what they listen to. I'm sure everyone feels that way, about a shit music they don't like vs. what they like. -- I really posted the thread cause I thought it would bring up talk about haters, which everyone seems to have opinions on, which always leads to quick witted banter, and funny comments, plus I was bored as piss at work. The Wiggle Baron wrote:lol I dont even know what ive done wrongrelaks wrote:good point. chillax thewigglebarunThomas wrote:You dissing an artist? you know they MIGHT SEE YOUR POST!!!!!!The Wiggle Baron wrote:The number of people I know who only really know dubstep from the caspa & rusko fabriclive...and as such think its utter wank is veeeery annoying!![]()

my local board is the same... the only thing that really bothers me about it is how harsh of comments people will have on very limited exposure to dubstep... whenever i point out how open and eclectic it really is... they brush it off, or laugh, or just insult my taste.Ben Freeman wrote:I personally love the generalizations they throw out.... one guy said,"it's all ambient sleeping music." then again, half the people on that forum still dress like ravers from 96, fucking candy kids...
also a lot of people are understandably wary of hype in general, and some of the nights can be a little one dimensional at times...
so if you can convince someone to come out to a "dubstep night", make sure its the right kind for the particular individual...
theres so many variations, if the person trusts you, and you know what your doing, you can easily get them to admit they were wrong.
Like what others have said, who gives a shit.
Every style of music has their own hate regime. It's a no winner and pointless trying to argue with people.
What's important is that YOU like it and that it brings joy to your life.
And if people got a problem with that, then they should go talk to the trees or go collect stamps or take up knitting or some shit.
Everything else is just politics.

ye tbh fuck em, its der opinion their entitled to it...Ben Freeman wrote:HAHA.... It's not that I care. Somehow I feel slightly superior for knowing that they don't have a fucking clue.....
all i know is i enjoy all aspects of dubstep, and i probably enjoy "my music" more than they do...
as in the feelin i can get from it is probably better then anything they can get from any of the music they enjoy.....
or if this aint the case, then gd for em, no skin of my nose.
i think ALOT of it is narrowminded perception, only being exposed to a tiny fraction and not seeing "all faces" of dubstep.

if they hear sumin really slow and ambient they will think its all just that, whereas if they hear jus fabriclive that caspa n rusko did then they will generalise it to that....its probably cos nobody expects a genre to be like the way dubstep is

its all gd tho, the way i see it aslong as it stays below a "certain level" of attention it wont get to exposed baited and then have the commercial attention tryna box it and confine it. rather it be the "little secret" in its true nature. haha
Yeah, I have to admit the one thing that gets to me is when you mention a dubstep club and people say something like "wow, there are dubpstep clubs??? People go out and dance to dubstep???" I mean, obviously it's not their fault, they've normally just heard a load of chancers on forums posting up 2bpm ambient dub tunes and sayign HAI GUYZ CHEKK MY HOT NU DUSBTEP CHOONZ INNIT rather than, y'know, listening to some Mala and going to DMZ, and I normally make enthusiastic noises about garage and swing and Kode 9 and brocking out rather than getting arsey with them, but it still kind of bothers me that that's how a lot of peope see the sound through no fault of their own...Ben Freeman wrote:I personally love the generalizations they throw out.... one guy said,"it's all ambient sleeping music." Big up the run on sentence cartel, btw.
lol caspa n rusko always get such a bad rep on this subject...
fair enough they showed a roughly 1D side of dubstep on there fabric mix, and it was subject to a large audience so it wernt a proper representation of the scene....
but i think they get a bit underated, there mix was pretty decent. ok not very much substance to it, not very deep but sumtimes i enjoy a bit of light hearted hype and there sound has that slight bit of sense of humour to it, its another face of dubstep, just another variation of the different moods the music offers...
its like that cheeky bassline dat is kind contrasting, leaves me wid a grin
tbh its nt gna float all "new listeners" boats, but i dunno how much difference it would of made if another aspect of the sound had been showcased, music is always subject to criticism.

I feel sorry for the haters. Dubstep is just a word. I like the way Benga put it on the interveiw with Gilles peterson, hes not creating a genre hes creating energy. And you can fken feel it. Anyone who disregards it is gonna miss the next evolution so their loss.
1. There's a difference between truly lighthearted, naïve music and the obnoxiousness Caspa & Rusko pump out. Stuff like "The Moaners" is just musical trolling.spiderman wrote:not very deep but sumtimes i enjoy a bit of light hearted hype and there sound has that slight bit of sense of humour to it
2. If I wanted comedy I'd listen to Bill Hicks.
