I have to say I'm not sure bout Jtek yet. Has alot in common with dubstep in terms of being a good mixture of temperamental jump up and warmer techno sounds. but i swear there aren't that many ppl pushing the sound? with this being the case at the moment does it have a long life span?....

good sounds coming from the outrage/modular set at the launch party tho...

It's not a million miles from the Nichestep stuff out of Sheffield. Nothing wrong with a bit of rave revivalism in my book :o

it could be labeld as dubstep had the jbone name not been banded around and it would be accepted as dubstep - it has bass and is around about the correct tempo - people would just describe it as "that jungly sort of dubstep".

I mean seriously, I dont see the difference...

And dont nobody say its obvious because jtek is jungle and techno, and dubstep is dub & 2step. Both are similar tempos, similar structures, and loaded from the balls to the brows with sub bass. As far as I can see jtek = dubstep = jtek. Somebody let me know if Ive missed something crucial here...

I mean if I made dubstep and started a label called ELEKTRNO and wrote a big PR piece about how I was combining elektro and techno to create something totally new, it wouldnt mean my music all of a sudden became electro-techno as opposed to dubstep.

bit of a rant but I gotta say I am confused
hehe, so ur basicly saying dubstep is a form of oldschool hardcore and the term dubstep should exist? :D

Im feeling the jtek stuff to some extent. The production, for me, isnt quite there yet, its still very very early days for this one. Good concept but needs another year or two to build up a backcatalog and get some producers invovled who can match the oldschool sounds of Source Direct, Photek etc in terms of production. Just cause it rolls like a tune made on a comador in 1991 doesnt mean it should have to sound like one hehe.

But its going places for sure.

=your market demographic right there.

Anyone who knows abt music will tell u that music has a habit of naturally evolving. You can't create a genre and retro-fit the music to fit. The simple fact that you have to tell ppl what 'J-tek' is proves that.
