ahh mixin is so nice sumtimes, the main beneficiator of vinyl. even if i just mix for fun all my life at home id still love doin it at that level. 8)

i no u could mix on cd and mp3 n wot not, but i just prefer the criss dubplate on the technics, really feels like its a lot more fine tune...

i guess its just a passion thing now, with the technology thats out i guess.

I have alot of vinyl its just nice to have different formats.

The sound is nice aswell just that little bit of roughness.

Iv got loads of different genres aswell somthings you can only get on vinyl like aphex twin - window licker.

I can mix but I use my sisters cd decks there loads of fun!

is it just me that has a few albums/singles on both vinyl & cd?

I only recently stopped buying stuff on vinyl. I've gotten on a kick where I'm trying to get rid of as many physical possessions as I can. Pretty much just buy mp3s now.

Another vinyl-buying non-DJ here. I'm just committed to the format - love being able to actually flick through something tangible, to recognise spines on much-loved records by a crease here, or a worn edge there, love the static you get when sliding a record out of its sleeve for the first time, I even love surface noise and crackle.

I have decks, but just mix for fun.

15 to 20 years ago I was buying vinyl with a view to possibly buying decks and trying DJing. Never got past the record player I have with my stereo, but still get vinyl. Why? I decided I like the more rounded sound compared to CDs cold sound. Not that I don't buy CDs.

I bought my first 4 vinyl before I had decks. Last month I got decks, and I'm really trying to not buy loads and loads more vinyl. I got 24 plates in a month. Already got my next order sorted for when I got a bit more money. Decks are a fun way to entertain yourself and it's good to have the music you love on vinyl. Stays around much longer.

Although I'm wondering how this music will sound to the world in 40 odd years. :P

Really good thread this mate, very interesting. Some people other than DJ's must be keeping wax alive otherwise it'd be long gone by now - big up the collector!
