I don't agree with this naive view of certain drugs being 'natural' or 'mystical' and therefore harmless.

I don't think what happens when you take mushrooms is anything magical, but it alters your perception in a way that alerts you to to the power perception has over you. I suppose all drugs do this, but with something like ketamine or weed it feels like part of my mind has just been taken out of the equation, I feel submerged in the drug rather than having my eyes opened by it.

I also remember in Amsterdam feeling incredibly happy without any thought at all going into it, enjoying the moment/present in quite a pure way that reminded me of being a kid again, when you're absorbed completely and unquestioningly in something you enjoy. Which was also an eye opener.

Does that include the first time you tried ket and weed? Cos I definately got something out of those first experiences. Same with ecstasy. After it becomes routine then you start to appreciate it less because its just the norm. The same applies to mushroom I think, even though they probably the most fun someone can have with fungus.

Well, every drug I suppose you do get that 'eureka' moment because it's a new sensation. I mean, for all I know other people might have had profound thoughts on ket or weed but generally I've been left brainless by them. Having said that with weed I think there's definitely potential, just personally I've always done pointless things like watch shit TV, play video games etc.

Actually the best thing about smoking weed for me is listening to music on it- that is a bit of a revelation, because it makes me concentrate on it a lot more and at the same time let go of analysis a bit and appreciate it for what it is.

And I agree- I'm probably deadened to weed because I've smoked it so much. Same with alcohol- the first time I got drunk it felt as exciting (almost) as the first time I did pills, because it made me lose a lot of inhibitions that I couldn't (still can't) shake, just like pills.

Mushrooms are just such a complete drug experience- when you're coming up its like a gentle version of being on great pills, then you get the hallucinations (which are a bit too much in some circumstances lol), then the comedown is a little bit gruelling but nothing too nasty.

what d'u call a mushroom at a party?
a fungi.

:)

i think it's all in the mind. if you're not anticipating or stressing, you'll enjoy it. if you think too much about it, you probably won't. that's been my general experience with most drugs. have not tried ket or heroin, so i cannot say for those. but the rest seems to work that way. i reckon if you got qualms or a lot of personal problems, best not to try anything expecting to get a good high... it'll only worsen the trip.

I think I'm going to have to grow some shrooms soon. This thread is making me miss them.

Apparently they are going to be banned in holland soon as well...

corpsey is doing an awesome job of describing how the experience opens up perception
every thing is about perception. and a large part of perception is choice.

i don't really like mushrooms because its too natural for me. i like my whistle stops to be completely synthetic, like a Geiger kinda arcadia. though...I can say that whenever I have really severe writers block and liquid's available, its one of the few things that helps. I think thats the thing with hallucinogens for me. I don't like visuals so thats never why--and I'm usually more of a body buzzer anyway. For me, its a chance to see everything differently. The only thing I hope when I come down is that at least one new insight remains. :)

This video is nothing new at all, there are many studies going on!
In fact, they are getting popular AGAIN! It's just that the FDA arent always fun to play around with for permission(and a shitloads of other groups)!

I actually took a little trip on shrooms this weekend! was ok, actually i was dancin to some dubstep and some psytrance!
Mushrooms arent really interesting unless you take a shit heavy dose!

btw this saying: WE ARE ONE!
Is currently coming back amongst people who do psychedelics!
I understand it really well, i was doing woodrose also this weekend!
And it was an enlightment to me, it started off in a slow upward spiral wave of emotions! Then colors got stronger, abit 3d vision!
Anyway, the visual part wasnt much! BUT the feeling of peace, and beeing one with the universe was intensively amazing! If only i could grasp my revelations into words! I really got the feeling of connection with things around me! Such as energy stuff from nature and people aswell....(And usually i am a skeptic!)

For anyone who takes a heavy dose, they will understand it more!
Its amazing what certain types of psychedelics can reveal about oneself!
What i personally get out of it, is thinking! My thougts are altered in such an fantastic way that it will take months to write it all down after!
The revelations can be extremely complex, and extremely simple!
And after a while, you notice what thougts are generated out of your subconsciousness and what really do come from some mystical source!
Also is alot of fun partying at Psy raves etc....you sorta enjoy it ten times more! It can be called a spiritual journey for some aswell!
SO, i can confirm (from my own experience) that psychedelics can do alot good! BUT also bad, just Google Acid casualty! :P
The strangest thing is that a BAD trip can teach you so much about yourself(if u survive it) And good trips can aswell!

BTW, a heavy dose kills your ego!
It can be scary, but what do you gain from that?
Well you get an outside view of your own head and views!
In theory (for me) it is like if you take all your thougts and mind structures and put them on a piece of paper! Just the thing is also that you color it maybe to much! haha!

Anyway, i strongly dis-agree with Timothy when he said that psychedelics are for everyone!
It is only for the thinkers, not the doers! and i find that true!
So peace! =D we are one!

Well ok....
DOERS(By that i mean, people who do all sorts of drugs just for the fun of it for an example)
And
Thinkers:
Who like to think about thier experience, or just think alot in general!
which one of those people would FUCK themself up?

In any case, no matter who you are....I think everyone should learn about psychedelics before taking a sheet of acid!

taking a sheet of acid can probably cause quite a bit of psychic harm but i don't see how its any worse than a lifetime of capitalism

I know someone who knocked a bottle of acid back once. They didnt suffer any lasting harm but they did, A: Eat half a playstation pad and B: Smash a lot of hospital equipment....

I read a report a few years back about a case where someone bought what they thought to be cocaine when it was actually LSD. They snorted 1000's of doses instantly, had to go to hospital, but they were also fine.

I think at that level of intake the brain must just shut down.

Also, capitalism definately ruins the mind. I want out...
