submitted by who? The artist themselves?
artist or label i guess. They have to submit it an pay a 200 quid registering fee. Bit shit as i guess a lot underground producers/artists might be pessimistic about their chances of winning. Meaning they dont fork out for it.

Anyone who gets nominated for this 'prize' deserves praise for even just getting to the stage where they could be.
Everyone one of them brings something diferent to the table, and by getting the Mercury sticker on their album treatment, up go the sales and recognition of artists who may otherwise have been over looked.
Media back scratching exercise or honest appreciation of music aside, good luck to all those involved1111

"and little known dubstep band called Burial, who you may not have heard of... a bit like banksy know one knows who he is so he is not at this nominee party..."

It makes sense that Burial's been nominated. But I'll be surprised if either he or Radiohead win. I mean, Radiohead should've won in 1997 with OK Computer, in 2001 with Amnesiac, and in 2003 with Hail To The Thief. It should actually be called the "Radiohead Music Award For Radiohead".

Although, having said all that... for me, 'Untrue' and 'In Rainbows' are about as good as each other.

+1

And Smashing Pumpkins did it too. I'm sure there are others who have released albums for free as well.

I reckon Burial should win it as Radio Head/ Thom Yorky got Burial to remix one of his tracks. If Radiohead win it they should give it to Burial. Also, if Burial wins it, does that mean that he/she/ they will have to go on stage and expose himself/ herself/ themselves?

Be good to see him win it though. Be even better seeing Kode or someone pick it up on his behalf

Much as I love the album, but not a chance he's going to win.

This is Radiohead all the way.
The bookmakers think otherwise - Burial is the clear favourite.

if burial did win the media would have a field day - elusive recluse wins mercury music prize. great pr for burial and great pr for the award it's self.

but popping my pr hat down many congrats to burial on this one.

Good news aint it, I think he should win by miles to be honest. Radiohead come close but I don't think they can touch Burial's Untrue.

Its a bag of pap most of that list mind.

Big up Burial, Kode 9 & Hyperdub your killing it.

Gwan bwoy!

Utterly deserved this one, anyone checked out Burial's myspace display picture? tasty.
Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?
