It appears 3rd Base totally underestimated how popular this night we would be, we stopped selling tickets at the 200 mark but the walk up was such on the night they were not prepared.
It was the venue which let people down, but come on Ninja...this is a party at the very club where DMZ had to be moved upstairs in the middle of the night to accomadate the hundreds queueing outside in March 2006. You can't but dubstep (plus FlyLo, who is in case anyone hadn't realised, massive now) on at a rave and expect it not to be mobbed. Surely it should have been an all ticketed affair?
The Bomb Squad, Bug, Kode9, Mala etc night a few month back wasn't ticketed and there were no issues, there's no tickets for DMZ either.
DMZ is upstairs though - much bigger capacity. But interesting what you say, I wonder why there was so much bother at this one then

Basically the album has got really good reviews left right and centre and loads of people turned up and the majority of the crowd arnt the usual heads that go to dmz. The bomb squad event wasnt as packed.
As for the night, felt really bad for the bug cause iy was his night and the sound appeared to be the worst for his set. The door people and security were disgraceful the worst I have seen. And the goons that were booing and started doing night really annoyed me.
Im only gonna draw on the positives now. Kode9 was sick selection was spot on. The Bug was playing heavy tunes and the mc's were sick also Warrior Queen oh my days was pure fire. Only saw half hour of Flying Lotus but liked what I heared.
End of the day the Bug is a badman, respect to you and and all the artists. Sometimes these things happen.

We didn't get in after waiting in line for hours!
Not so bothered we missed this now. We ended up in the White Horse which was rocking.
Free entry, cold pints and cool crowd.
Could have been a lot worse

already had a rant about this. massive dissapointment. nuff people repped that do from hear by the sounds of it. This wasn't just a queue, it was one the size of dmz at one point. for 3rd base! Shoulda bumped it, then we'd have all had a good night.
Allow small venues so as to keep it cliquey. If you gonna do that take it to shoreditch or something. Don't waste our time and money.
I'm still fucking fumin about that do.

kode9 dropped both sides of this sick jungle 12 at the end of his set:
DJ Hype & Ganja Max - Volume 6

no melodies.
no harmonies.
no rhythm.
no bullshit.

Ninja Tune / The Bug would like to apologise for events that took place at the "London Zoo" album launch. Fault lies at the management and security at Third Base. We had assurances over what equipment that would be available to us, but the management had failed to realise a previous night had blown the bass speakers and the club night upstairs at Mass were using the monitors we had been promised. It appears 3rd Base totally underestimated how popular this night we would be, we stopped selling tickets at the 200 mark but the walk up was such on the night they were not prepared. After trying all ways of sorting the sound, The Bug said to the venue that he wanted to either pull the show or for the venue to get in the right soundsystem, they flatly refused so we had no choice but to proceed. They overdrived an underpowered system and this resulted in frequency loss and ultimately amps blowing. No blame can be put on the soundmen at the show itself. Their assistance was admirable.
And as for the total rudeness and disorganisation of the door staff we can only apologise, we could not have predicated that on the night, they even threatened ninja staff too. We will be looking into doing a special Bug show in the near future. Apologies once again. Any questions/comments please email
ninja@ninjatune.net
the bug is one of my favourite artists but this night was a piss take, refunds should have been handed out or peeps that went should get a free ticket to a similar event in the future. I can appreciate all these complications but at the end of the day I didnt get what i payed for and im fumin! (two weeks later!)

It's so lame to see/hear a show with bad sound, isn't that what we're paying stupid cover prices for? So, clubs...... higher good sound guys, and buy good equipment, if you expect people to show up at your venue again! We are paying for bass, not for quiet background tunes.
