Another former student is William Bevan, aka Burial, a dubstar artist who enjoys a cult dancefloor following and who likes to retain a Banksy-like anonymity.

I still thinks its part of a bluff tbh! Why spend all these years hiding your identity only to un-cover it on a blog on myspace......... I wont believe it till I see pictures of him dj'ing or going on stage to collect an award etc etc
A funeral directors + burial is too much of a coincidence imo, unless he planned that of course. But hey im know to be a pessimist.

it becomes more than a simple "joke" and he felt it, thats the right decision specially when hes about to win that mercury prize thingy, still burial is all about the music.

Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?

Not just the media mate, sadly the forum was all over this shockin state of affairs.ctop80 wrote:shame the media witch hunt prevailed

To be honest, I'm guessing that there are going to be a couple of short "OMG we know who Burial is!!!!" articles in the papers (maybe one of them will use the picture and he'll be able to live on the proceeds of the copyright infringement case?) , a few hacks will phone him up to ask for interviews, he'll say no, and then it'll be business as usual. He's not really got the sort of public profile that makes it worthwhile jamming zoom lenses in his face every time he goes out for a pint of milk, I think the only reason people were interested in who he is is because he was explicitly a 'mystery artist.' I mean, I don't know Pinch's name or Loefah's name or Benga's name, come to think about it, and I don't particularly feel the need to find out.
Do we really 'know who he is' more now than we did last week? I mean, we know his name and what he looks like and where he comes from (although I think he mentioned that before anyway). In terms of knowing who he is, the Blackdown interview was a lot more revealing than this in that he actually talked about where his head was at and where he was coming from musically. Hopefully now people will just cool it and the whole "mystery artist OMG who is it" thing will die away to let the music speak for itself.

well at least he doesnt have that pressure of idiots like the sun trying to expose him...
i think its quite insulting to be honest, that they attack this issue. he chose to remain unknown because he wanted to be about the music and thats all, and i respect that kind of thinking because thats the way it should be...
but its a blatent lack of respect for them to ignore his wishes.
all that kind of stuff is so pointless, extra publicity and having cameras shoved in his face and having his life on display...
it takes away some human rights to an extent. i guess we have this reinforced celebrity culture to blame for this kind of stuff and papers like the sun. i hate all this "treat celebs like gods" kind of culture, there just human beings who happen to do certain things better than the rest of us, leave em be.
