Yeah man we did. And you're right about the gaping hole too....now that Mellberg's gone, and Bouma's ankle is all fucked up, we needed to snap up a couple of defenders.

COME ON ARSEEENNNAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.

Walcott, Perskle and Fabbers. League in the bag.
Haha at 'utd have peaked'...Arsenal are way to weak at the back to win it, and the loss of Flamini has meant you are a bit weak in centre mid.

I think it's between Utd and Chelsea again, although Liverpool should be more of a force (although still struggling to find decent wide players) and Spurs should be better, and 3rd place will be tight with Arsenal also there.

Villa have a shot at top 6, although i think they need another quality wide player and a more creative centre midfielder to seriously challenge.

mmm...and judging on the "kop"s performance the other night, we need a new team...i mean what were they called "standard league", the name says it all really....

Arsenal have as good a chance as last year. remember, we were the 'outsiders' then as well and people were tipping liverpool for the title ahead of us. HAH! they know better than to do that this year...oh, no, wait, people are still tipping liverpool.

last year we lead most of the year and missed the title by four points. if we'd had the end of season bottle to beat man u and chelsea then we'd be defending the crown from tomorrow.

we've got progressively better each year since teefing the FA Cup from man u's waiting arms and moving to the emirates and have never been hindered by big players going, though i'm not gonna say that i'm ok with flamini going (the ungrateful shite). if nasri can do what hleb did, except with more steeliness and an end product (and generally being less of a dick, "Hampstead is too hectic so i'm off to the peace and quiet of Barcelona". prk) then that position is sorted. I do agree, we do need a Gilberto/Flamini replacement but the transfer market is still open and i have faith wenger sensei knows what we need.

going to the Arsenal V West Brom match tomorrow afternoon, hope to give the perennial new boys a good 'welcome back'.

Hleb was great before xmas, then really didn't produce in the 2nd half of the season. Having Van Persie fit is a big thing for you, he finally looked like he had found the consistency to match his talent at the start of last season.

It's a big season for Walcott, you'd hope he'd nail down the right mid slot ahead of Eboue (who I really don't rate). Nasri is a good player, probably won't see the best of him until the 2nd half of the season though.

I hope you challenge us this season more than Chelsea as we are the best 2 footballing sides in the Premiership.

i hope to see that walcott has gained a little more confidence and with that a bit more aggression that should help keep his staring position for games.
this is wengers possible problem for the season ahead, youth = inexperience. i know he has a thing for picking up young players(no pun intended) but this youth advancement/development idea he has will eventully fall flat on its face. it is good for young players to be pushed, but some look like they have been thrown onto the pitch.
during their final game off the amsterdam tournament(i mentioned this earlier in the thread) they, the younger players, looked lost. not a good sign if arsenal start picking up injuries as the season goes on.
a lack of depth in the squad and a worring lack of strenght at the back could lead to an unsteady season for arsenal.

here's to a great season...

Errr we were missing a fair few attacking players yet totally outplayed portsmouth and could easily have scored 3 or 4 if it wasn't for David James and Darren Fletcher.
