It'll take about 5 days for Boomkat records to arrive normally, and that's the UK. Give them a ring and see when they shipped them out.struggle wrote:i been waiting 10 days for records from boomkat

ive had no bad experiences with boomkat...
except that they have longer delivery times compared to BMsoho, redeye, rooted, juno,SOTU to name a few.
so i usually order from some other shop, cos i need to get them records fast.

Juno gets to me NEXT DAY if I place the order by noon my time & fedex it
Boomkat gets to me in about 10. with no options of expediting.
True, they do stock Various (who is LARGE!) I think a lot of other places do, too. They just get lost because you search for Various and all these compilations come up.

been using boomkat for years and i must say that their service seems to be on the slide from my experience. perhaps it's because they're getting bigger and therefore more conplacent but increasingly orders are taking longer to arrive (that's gone from two days to sometimes ten), getting more and more glitched/scuffed goods, increaslingly getting told what i've ordered is no longer is stock (usually once it's too late to track the tune down elsewhere) and, though it's less of a bother obviously, i'm noticing more and more stupidly obvious typos in their sycophantic reviews - not to mention that some of the encoding is so up the duff is sounds like the tracks are recorded in a mineshaft.
i'll still order from them without thinking twice though.

It's much better than some eg Sister Ray where they don't bother to tell you it's out of stock even when you've ordered it - I once spent about a month waiting for my record to show only to be informed (when I actually emailed and asked) that it hadn't been in stock or in print for years but they thought it was probably about due for a repress and were sitting on my order in case it got one.fseq wrote:i've used boomkat/pelicanneck for mailorder for five years now, ordering on average once a fortnight probably, and have never had any problems at all. very occasionally things have gone missing in the post but they have sent replacements without fuss and the customer service has always been friendly. i agree that a warpmart/juno style auto-updating system would be useful to prevent you from ordering stuff which is already or about to out-of-stock and hopefully they will introduce that soon.
My only problem with Boomkat is that I wish they'd actually stick stuff in the post when they get the order rather than sitting on it for a couple of days for no reason.
no site is perfect, just take it for what its good for---in this case hard to get promos, great archive of music clips, and i find the search and cross search engines (artist, label, style and best seller lists is one of the best out there--- and i know online commerce--aint no walking distance for a dubstep record fo me yo.
Eh?? I phoned them the other day. You probably got through to the record shop that runs Boomkat.sinewave wrote:bad customer service too.
you call them, and the number is for another company that takes calls on their behalf, who are completely unable to even locate my order there and then. waste of time imo.
I've never had any problems. Nothing lost, nothing out of stock, friendly people.
Compared to people like Black Market, Boomkat's p+p is a steal. They used to be much better at delivery times (it used to be next-day) but they seemed to have gone slack on that one.brklss wrote:I've just ordered once and it was okay.
Pro:
Really good wrapping/vinyl protection
Confirmation AND delivery email
Con:
Price/Postage
Delivery time is too long
I don't like the online shop neither, it's too bloated
Used them a couple of times and I've always thought them pretty good, delivery time was a few days but they arrived in good nick. Only problem I've got is when I receive the newsletter I can't get any samples of the tunes to play for some reason. Not going to order stuff if I don't know what it sounds like am I?
Hmm....

To add my tuppence:
I've also been using these guys for the last 5/6 years. Always found them extremely helpful especially if you ring them up or go to the shop.
Never had any major problems regarding missing items. Yes, some items take a while to ship, but you have to bear in mind that this is a relatively small operation that also involves the running of a shop; unlike Juno who run an exclusively web-based operation. I've been in Pelicaneck sometimes in the past and seen the huge piles of records that they have to find, pack, address and ship out from their tiny little shop.
Just to re-iterate too that the 'reviews' are mainly promo spiels and do not necessarily reflect the views of the guys in the store.
I can't recommend them enough.

i know. i know. i'm sticking w/tom from now on. speed is nice ,but consistency is also key. my wife is cool as hell but it's nice to know when my order is gonna show cause it's hard to explain why i can't pay the electric bill while holding a fresh stack of plates in my hand.brklss wrote:I just have to point out again how fast Redeye is. Have you had confirmation that the records have been shipped? If you have, then blame the postal service, and if you haven't, then by all means have a shout at them! But I've never experienced an unwarranted delay when purchasing from Boomkat, and I've bought so much stuff from them... The comment made earlier that they're not as fast now as they used to be is perhaps true, though.struggle wrote:on day 17 now boomkat!
Personally, I love Boomkat. They're the only store I know of that stocks my favourite record label, and they're the guys who got me into Various. And their site is easy to use, and their service is pretty good too. I phoned them up once to ask about a release - they certainly knew what they were talking about. Dunno about the comment earlier in this thread about getting through to a shop that knew nothing about the order...
As for their record reviews... Jesus, I'm not sure what to believe any more when I read stuff on the net. Caveat lector. I mean, for all I know, all the negative criticism that I'm reading on these pages could be from rival stores, and all the positive stuff could be from Boomkat people. But hey, I generally agree with their reviews. And in any case, you get to hear samples on their site, so you can surely get the gist yourself.
