Why, the abundance of reasonably-priced alcohol and the lack of any real religious institutions, of course. That and the fact that I'm now genuinely terrified to go back home, what with the economy being in the state it is. We're just about managing to paper over the cracks here, but only barely.

seriously tho' i used to live in brighton. starting to think about moving over there again... more work and your money goes further. the "celtic tiger" is long gone at this stage.
it's quite scary to hear my dad go on about how ireland today reminds him of ireland in the early 80's when irish people left the country in their thousands in the hope finding work. a year or two, he says and it will all start again...

The lads are well sound, I even got a steak dinner out of them. I wish that happened more often.

The lads are well sound, I even got a steak dinner out of them. I wish that happened more often.

they have some support from the owners of the club now too. so a bit more money can be spent on bookings and that means less risk to the lads.
good to see things picking up for them after a slow summer, cork has always been a bit of a ghost town during summer for anyone trying to run nights...

Thats good to hear. To many nights start up only to vanish after a few months. I take it that its Kevin and co putting on Vex'd then

they are doing a fancy dress acid house thing tonight.

not too sure when vex'd is on tho' they were telling my mate warren (their resident) about it...

I'm from the sunny south east of Ireland, the Nations real capital Wexford! Born and rared only moved to the UK 7 months ago. I like it over here but I have to say I do miss Irish people I'm fad up of hearing "I don't really drink man" and "What!? Drink now but its half 1 and its Tuesday".

I am not Irish but some of my best mates are and I go to Sligo a few times a year. Every where I go I seem to befriend fucking a fucking culchy. I keep telling them to leave me along but nooo, they want me to drink with them and take part in their strange ways
