heh you must have had an unfriendly nix experience
should try an idiot proof distro like ubuntu or suse before delving into the more customizable/console based distros

ok issue at hand
is mainly software/os issue
any piece of bad code will cause a crash and gets more complex with device drivers
in summary crashes are bound to happen

yea differences aside a piece of bad code whether it be in the os/soft/device drivers causes this issue
and the more devices the more possible issues

Surprise.

Never had a PC or MAC be 100% stable in a studio environment, at least when talking about Cubase + Logic. Pain in the arse.

it was gay from the offset.

i'm surprised somebody thought that mac's don't crash. (or at least the titled would suggest so)

i once worked on a full album in a pro studio for a shortwhile, insane set-up, the Mac which the engineer used; crashed once or twice in a couple of weeks...Also, smaller studios i've been in; the Mac has crashed on the engineer at some point.

Yeah same experience. I sat in on a production in a very impressive studio. Huge SSL desk etc... Saw the fully loaded G5 fall over a couple times. Made me feel all warm inside that it's not just me with problems haha.

thing about macs though when you do have a crash it doesn't tend to upset the operating system as much, where as windows a crash can cause the OS to throw all sorts of hissy fits,

thats the only difference from my experience.

The only time I crash with anything is when I use cracked software.
Whats the point in comparing macs to PCs in terms of hardware? The difference is in the operating system. In my experience, with a PC it is the Windows operating system that generates the problems, and therefore when it crashes, it burns. Mac OS has a great track record of isolating a problem so that everything else that was running remains untouched.
