Not sure about other programs using other soundcards though.
does anyone know if traktor would work like this?

Could anyone run me through how you would get Image Line's Deckadance to work with any time coded vinyl, please?

Like, what equipment is needed, signal routing, etc.

That would be awesome. Cheers

digital systems and laptops are much more of a hassle than using CDJS

I really prefer CDJ's for a live performance and the digital to vinyl in the comfort of my own studio

there is nothing worse than your system crapping out on you in a club full of ravers
Toldya you shoulda got Serato. :P Still never had a problem in the club that was due to my setup. The only time its ever happened was due to a bad turntable that was the club's. That taught me to always have my own needles and vinyl with me, just in case.

I personally just cannot stand CDJs. Ill tempt fate with my DVS system over using them any day of the week.

I don't know why but I always had it in my head that there was something special about seratos soundcard that made it work,

So basically any soundcard with the right number of I/O's will do?

I think Festy is running a latop from 1992 lol so advice telling him to get a new one is not bad advice imo. I use Torq too and I can't say it has never crapped out on my in the middle of a performance but I can say it was not Torqs or the computers fault. Usually down to the existing equipment such as the decks, needles, mixer etc. Yeah that is sometimes impossible to avoid and part and parcel to the digital control game but those are problems you will come across no matter what brand you use. It has been at least a year since I have brought vinyl with me other than control records to a gig. I have it down. I can't play for shit on cdj's, can't teach an old dog new tricks I guess.

Nowadays you can get the Torq system AND a NEW laptop for the price they are currently charging for Serato or Traktor Snatch. Fuck wasting all that money...

Torq - 275
45rmp control vinyl from mspinky 30
Compaq Presario CQ60 - 350
655usd

I love this computer too btw. Check it out of you are a broke ass mofo like me.

Edit, look for the single core model that is where you can cut cost and these programs do not support multi core anyway so Torq will work even better on the single core.

I am currently running a timecode system on deckadance and I use:

ESI maya 44 usb soundcard
Torq timecode vinyl
2 gemini direct drive turntables
numark mixer
my laptop

I also got hold of some higher quality RCA cables to get a better signal. I got this setup around 3 weeks ago and only a few days ago I managed to get it working fully. When you buy serato you are paying for the compatibility of all the different components. Now that I have all the setting tweaked the setup is working very well. My laptop hasn't failed on me, but if you are running anything but mac I wouldn't rely on this setup in a club.

Interesting, so all I need is the soundcard + timecodes and I can essentially get it working... nice one! cheers.
