This is what I liked about Dubstep in the first place.

With Funky I kind of feel that UKG is getting back to it's House roots a bit. I've been playing Funky out for the past year and the Heads that really, really like it don't really like Dubstep that much. And, the Dubsteppers 'round my parts are into "wonky" "Glitch Hop" "Lazerbass" "Post-Dilla beats" or whatever you call Instrumental Hip Hop nowadayz. I think the the DSF should change it's name to Post Garage forum so we can keep everyone happy and talk about the flow of UK dance music and not get all wound up by Genre names. It's all UK dance music to me.
Well put. I just like another aspect to playing out. I cant take an entire night of dubstep or funky. So mixing it up in a set keeps me interested.

I wanna jump all over this, but I won't. peace!

lol, go for it... everything written above was my opinion, stemming from the feelings i got when i first saw this subforum, even before that when there was the Wonky sticky in the main forum...

appears to me, in my opinion, and so on...

im sure you have yours, and thats the point of forum, so please, pick apart what i said, id love to be wrong...

for me, its slightly ironic that Hiphop & House are the future of dubstep, cause dubstep has always been just that lol..

where is the Reggae & Dancehall forum? the Jungle D&B forum?

i dunno yo, and really, i dont care what direction this forum goes in, but i did feel like expressing how the change has made me see this place... im alot LESS interested... these subforums take away from this spot imo.. so it goes...

btw, its always peace! so please do, jump all over... just dont jump on ;)

fair enough of you don't like these subforums; that's your decision and it seems to be shared by a few others, but i fail to see how it makes the forum less interesting. people whinged about there being wonky and funky stickies, so now there are separate subforums. so how exactly is the main forum any different to how it was before when there were no stickies or no separate subforums? the dubstep forum is still the dubstep forum - but now there are a few extras on top

anyway i don't think there's a lot of point continuing as most of us are just repeating ourselves/each other

surely this was created as a response to the huge interest in funky shown in the 'other music' section, and to the large number of posts about it there, agreed there was interest in other types of music, particularly the bassline thread you mentioned, but not on the same level...

lol man peace! I'm not about to play like that, pretend like I can tell u yr wrong cuz fundementally I respect you and see eye to eye w/ most of what you post up..

I was just thinking at the time I made my original reply that yr comments vis a vis 'trends' + 'next big things' made me kinda like :? in the sense that developments in edm can be framed as positively or dismissively as one likes, and at some point all new music has to go through this period of people saying various things about that music.. I guess it bugged me that you could dismiss some folks getting into something new as 'riding a trend' - while I assume other people might get a pass for being into what they are into or getting into something new... surely there was some point long ago before you were swept deep into this music that it too was something 'new' or perhaps seemed a 'trend'?

even if yr in on ground since day I don't think you can slate the sheep for tuning in yeah?

idk peace - arguing is dumb

and ps yes my dancehall does mix well with funky 8) just copped this sick reggie stepper 12" and its a treat

I wanna edit what I originally wrote, but I'll leave it up, in retrospect I feel like my commentary is tangential and I wanna stop my manifesto'ing on the funky board, just blazed and I feel like repenting, lol issues

out to everyone thinking there's some conspiracy or master plan to making a subforum on a forum. out to everyone thats constantly complaining about this site, whilst not trying to build their own site and build momentum on their own.

i swear to god it makes me think that people have this automatic need to create obstacles and walls around themselves so that they have something to rise up against, when in reality all they're doing is looking into one big mirror.

music is about communication just as much as its about community and gathering. NO ONE is telling you have to like funky. NO ONE....

innit! personall like having a new section on the forum, with some different stuff to hear and discuss, keeps things fresh both in terms of discussion and things to listen to

Sooo last year guys. Honestly, anyone with their finger even vaguely on the pulse realises that Caracas Lovers Throat Singing Merengue is the hot pick for this year, shit tears down the club everytime.
