TinyXP ftw! Though changing OSes could void your warranty in some cases.abZ wrote:My last joint was a compaq. It wasn't great. Wasn't horrible either I guess. I have a Toshiba now and it is garbage imo. Thinking about getting something cheaper and smaller basically just for djing and messing around on the web. I can't deal with the bloatware most companies stack up on their machines tho.thetaco wrote:get an HP. ibm thinkpad t61 core2duo 2ghz 2 meg ram

i only got one cos i had to borrow one off a promoter when my shite old laptop died on me before a gig and it played my ableton set ridiculously much smoother than my old laptop
best money i ever spent getting the ibm
it's even survived some div spilling a pint of beer over it
sturdy as fuck
I have never had a problem with changing OS, they have always fixed it for me. I usually get a service plan tho. I have a couple kids running around me house. I don't see how TinyXP is going to help me tho, no drivers from Tosh.thetaco wrote:TinyXP ftw! Though changing OSes could void your warranty in some cases.abZ wrote:My last joint was a compaq. Why can't you just download the drivers you need from the toshiba site and pack them onto the cd?abZ wrote:I have never had a problem with changing OS, they have always fixed it for me. no such thing as a perfect anything !darkmatterUK wrote:no such thing as a perfect laptop, is there?
To be fair though, its hard to find a good laptop for a good price....And for the price you might as well buy a desktop, its a difficult decision - unless you don't actually have a home and want to make tunes where ever you end up.
