now that you got all that out, how about going back and listening without worrying about whether it has beats or bass or any resemblance to anything you know, and just checking it out as an interesting musical concept?

and if you needed warning, the writeup is on the first post in this thread.

i love it. was a great soundtrack to writing the other night for me.

Actually, it totally belongs here.

Raz Mesinai has a long standing history in making system destroying bass music as Badawi, Ladyman and as one half of the long-missed Sub Dub.
He just also happens to be a masterful modern composer.

All power to the Dub War fammo for getting this into circulation not only as a classic piece of music but as a tribute to the beauty of the turntable.

If you want something a little bassier, there's a vast plethora of mixes in this forum, no need to start shitting on something you don't get.

well, as i said before, it stated pretty clearly what the podcast was about in the description. i guess i could understand being taken aback if you just got the podcast and didn't read the explanation, but to completely badmouth it struck me as pretty lame, tbh.

i thought it was great, but then i have been listening to all kinds of weird shit for years. so there's that.

Maybe this will clear things up for him?

Post by criminalmind » Thu Mar 05, 2009 12:28 am

There's something else written that Mr. Camp Bell Jr. must have missed. Perhaps this will clear things up for him?

Here it is:

Enter the Badawi, high Priest of the underworld.
Behold the avenging myth,
The blue print of the divine paradox,
The crystal crux of the Soldier Of Midian,
Behold the Heretic Of Ether,
Lord of the reverse scriptures,
Exiled alchemical warlord,
Leader of the Etheric uprise,
Rip the pages from the book.
Destroy all prophets.

amazing concept.

I have so much respect for Raz for executing this idea, and for Dave for understanding and sharing the significance of it. Not often that people dare to think outside the box when it comes to turntables and a mixer, and anything that promotes the vast potential of what we can do with this instrument is worthy of note and praise.

As for it being dubstep-relevant... I do recall at some point, dubstep being very much about experimentation and individual self-expression.. destroying pre-conceived definitions seemed to be the name of the game. As soon as you stop embracing the unexpected and unorthodox, things get a bit boring and predictable.. and that's the last thing I want in the music I listen to. My two cents.
