It depends... For say pixel art, MS paint is the better option. Also Reason ain't that bad..

I think that if u are really against reason, then you probably havn't learnt
what it's capable of yet. either that or you are just a gash producer.

I use reason and its immense. go on my myspace below and listen to 'shot i crackhead' i made that on reason. Just to demonstrate wat its capable of (dub-wise). i don't think that weird trance stuff does it any justice. If u think my track is shit then fair enough, continue to hate reason lol.

stenchman uses reason, and i think i read on another post here that widdler does aswell...?

You're stuck w/ daw sound, you don't have access to any of the vst's available for daws, and you have the mess and difficulty of routing analog. Seems so stupid. Which is nice sometimes. Doing stuff ass backwards produces some good results sometimes.

I am hating on that video though! Crap track + ignorance + attitude = cracks me up.
The audio routing in Reason is very flexible. If you learn audio routing in Reason, wiring up a hardware studio also becomes easier (and vice versa).

Reason is capable of a lot. For instance, I'm working on making a granular synth using a Combinator device. It is very easy to use considering the power available.

But,

Reason doesn't do some simple things like reverse audio very well. It lacks some more 'out there' effects such as beat repeaters, time stretchers and pitch shifters. Some things a plain idiotic too, like the inability to change the Malstrom oscillator waveform with an lfo or the fact that all the important sampler controls on the NNXT are unavailable as routing options within the Combinator....

All my tunes have been made in Reason. They're not perfect, but each of my tunes varies in style from the last. Hopefully this displays some of the versatility that Reason is capable of.

Horses for courses I guess!

Well let's delete this whole section of the forum then

I think you messed up that analogy somehow because writing about music is pretty much the same as writing about architecture. People write about it and people read it. Whats the problem?

Yeah hate on the haters. "Eat your heart out vsti" that's some childish shit. Reason is cool tho. Either as a scratchpad for new ideas or a rewire slave or something i could use with cans at home (as in when i am not at the studio) it has made me a happy camper many times. And the cheesy post-eurotrance hyundai commercial music makes me want to vomit.
The only way to make a musical moment last forever is to pass it through a delay with the feedback control set to maximum and let it play on and on to infinity. This is also the best way to burn your speakers and the moment won't stay musical for long ...

there's no reason to delete this section, but there's no reason too, to describe what's better or what not. well you can write about the procedure and the finetuning but that's not the point.

take fruity, reason, cubase or maybe hammerhead .-b , free your mind, and create some impression of your world.

or wait til someone will describe which "eeck" or "queek" sound cooler ^^

Got my start on that prog... moved on to dude's other stuff before getting serious and actually buying something. What were they... Taureg and then Sunfish? Something like that... good stuff for free for sure. Come to think of it... Tuareg was kinda dope with the beat slicing and fun limitations. :D He should update them for Mac.
