I think many people have come to dubstep not just because of the music, but also because of the attitude of certain labels, producers, djs etc. I mean, personally, if Dubmugga was the most important player in the dubstep scene for example, after the amount of bullshit, beggin it, hype, that he chats on here, I certainly wouldnt be as into the scene no matter what his music sounded like. Its because I like the way what I associate with the core of the scene (i.e. the south london side) carries itself, musically and in terms of attitude (i.e. not full of empty hype and transparent a&r tripe and blatantly not in a rush to go anywhere except in their own time) that dubstep is cool with me. Its not just about music spreading here there and everywhere as fast as possible in an hi-tech a format as possible. The culture has to spread and that involves understanding a bit about where its from, not just where its at. It seems to me that lots of overseas artists/producers and fans on here do get that. But some blatantly don't!
ohhhh riiiiigggghhhttttt, this is what was causing the misunderstanding in the other thread...
...so uh geoff, don't judge me by my internet persona that is purely virtual, judge us by our tunes or walk a mile in my shoes...
understand that we as HELL_SD were into garage and breakstep quite a while ago and our sound developed contemporaneously with what was emerging in underground london, shit i could play you some stuff from years ago that never made sense til now...
...tell me geoff what do you know of my culture and how does that fit into your scene ???
BTW you might want to hear this, snippets forthcoming...
