You've even surpassed El Sid in the David Brent stakes.
But seriously, I haven't listened to dubmuggas tunes. I'm not dissin his music, just his online personality. In all the talk about 21st century distribution, it is worth remembering that availability is one thing, but people throwing up at the sight of the word dubmugga won't help his record sales.

Do what you want mate. i don't think anyone here really gives a shit.
But if you reincarnate as someone else, then loose the attitude. Then people might be able to appreciate your music without the smell of digital bullshit in the air.

no we don't ;) but sometimes we use to roll the spliffs at home, put them in the empty cigarette box and enjoy them during the party without the need to roll them every time we want to smoke them hahahaha
in fact we mostly smoke pure weed from the small glass pipes :P

geoff, can you not listen without prejudice ???

...id suggest just thinking for yourself and sticking your cultural elitism bullshit advice ???

maybe if you heard some of our tunes i'd care what you thought enough to take your advice...

...but the fact is there is very little bullshit in what i write

maybe thats what so discomforting is that you're used to being lied to all the time and don't have to think for yourself...

...maybe you only want to maintain the status quo and preserve your hard won slice of culture, your sense of belonging and identity wrapped up in the music you hold so dear

fucked if i know eh ???

don't really care either

The reason I called myself Plasticman & put the word Techstep on a flyer are as follows:

Until the age of 17 I never listened to any radio station other than Kiss 100 or Capital FM.

The chance of me hearing anything remotely similar to Richie Hawtin or "Techstep" was absolutely nothing. I was still listening to tracks by Puff Daddy or Jamiroquai.

Then i listened to UK Garage and nothing else.

People all over the world expect me to know about these minor little music genres and mental techno music dj's and producers but I've never listened to anything other than pop music and uk garage.

genre names are there so that record companies/artists can sell there product easier. I reckon people should fuk that in everyday conversation and learn to beatbox the beat, so like what style is that artist yea its the one with the beat that goes buh.....pf..........buh.pf..... at 130 bpm or buh...buh....buh......pf.......pf or buh...tika...pf..tika.tika..ttttt...pf..buh...pfpfpf etc. seriously.

This is true 100%

I didn't get into underground music until I was 17 and that was UK Garage. I've never been into any kind of techno.

When Rephlex wanted to put out my tunes I didn't know who they or Aphex Twin were.

I guessed from your post. But that doesn't make my answer any different. I haven't heard any of his tunes or dj sets.

Cool sorry mate I didn't even clock that!!

I get easily wound up with the Hawtin thing. People must think i'm a total retard if they believe I would name myself after a techno legend. If I had heard of him, I wouldn't be called Plasticman, end of!

Music's infinite. I always thought of dubstep as a blank canvass with maybe a couple of solid rules. Once the teacher's taught u them 'rules' he just gives u the paint brush and fucks off out of the room.

Skreamz is supposedly a dubstep artist but when you see the array of beats he's built you realise he's much more than that. I remember some interview with the Mystikz where they were saying something along the lines of whatver music u make iz YOUR SOUND. I suppose this is the basis of Wiley's Eski ting.

Dubstep is just a very wack unbrella term for a lot of different strands in my eyes. We gots to look at the reality of it to know it.

Kinda like when I realised that the word democracy doesnt seem to actually mean what its supporters seem to think.
i agree with nearly everything you've said. here's the problem though.
in a world full of labels and music genre's, you need to be able to explain and promote the sound in some way?
for example, magazines. journalists make their living off labels. it's part of their language.

in 2006, how do you promote a form of underground music, without using a label or catchy description?

if you can come up with an answer to that then hats off to you.
Haha I aint got no answer for that. Well I could give u an answer but you'd have to allow me to deconstruct the world and build it up again in my own way starting from the grass roots up.

I realise that this whole ting is a dead-end. Words dont even begin to capture the essence (especially English words). Shit gets very TRICKy
