I often play music late at night and gladly turn it down if anyone has an issue... when it's the middle of the day, you can fuck off if you don't like it. I don't give a shit if you blast music all day and night, just don't fuck with me at 2-3 in the afternoon or something when I'm working on a tune. Bastards.

All I know is that "bass boost" makes tunes sound shit.
Weak

I second this.

Loud music is good, but keep it for the daytime hours.
Fair play, and I do agree ,I did turn it off when the complaint came.
But most of the other people living there are noisy fuckers anyway so I was a bit angered when someone asked me to turn it down.

Also the title of the thread is bit misleading, it's not like I've been grinding them down for months.

The point of the thread was more in the vain of it was a Loefah track that did it- heavyweight

The couple who live downstairs from me seem to have arguments around 5am (waking me up), and usually late at night too (keeping me up). I dont complain.

I think this gives me rights to play music at a decent volume :)

Ive only ever once had an allnighter in this flat - and i knew they were away.

Should know when to turn it down a little tbh.

Had some tnuc of a neighbour last year who kept playing heavy metal at 3am or later, I'd say turn it down and it would creep back up to the same volumes non-stop all year.

So it hit May the 1st, my exams were done earlier than other peoples (it was in halls), and I got revenge by blasting original nutter (chosen for the irritating loud vocal) with the speakers facing the walls after getting home from a night out

I feel a little bad for the collateral but it was fucking satisfying.

my next door neighbour is a fed and threatened me with an asbo. i live in a detached house with 2 driveways between our houses and my speakers are only about 150w. i think he was just being a prick.

and also, if i got an asbo, wouldnt that mean i would have to come home earlier or something like that, which would mean more time spent playing loud music?

Simple answer is to play ur music and go outside and if you can clearly hear it outside its irritating to others. Bass travels its as simple as that.

god, the flaw in my plan is clear now  . At the time I was thinking anyone trying to sleep will have a rage attack after hearing those vocals for too long.

both my neighbours either side have kids.......and they've moved in after ive lived here, so I went out of my way to knock on both their doors, introduce myself, tell them I make music and it will be up loud sometimes but I will turn it down when they want their kids to start settling down to go bed, asked them what time they liked to put their kids to bed and now cause of that I haven't got any complaints.. its just respect for other people really..

From about mid day - 6-7 pm I can have it as loud as I want, after that I am usual out of creativity or have fatigued ears anyways so I just enjoy listening to music at a semi-low volume or headphones anyways.

However much you don't get on with your neighbours, you should never make them crack. Make them a nice cup of tea instead!

the thing is... people rarely see both sides of the spectrum.

It all started a long time ago... when we had a house party... yup... we got a rig in... only a little fella... but it could still do some damage... the week before our party we gave a bottle of wine and a letter to every house in close proximity (either side and across the road..) and offered to put one particular neighbour up in a B&B close to the house for the night in case it was going to bother her too much... So we did...

I personally think thats going far enough in regards to consideration.

Since then, we have received letters, phone calls, council visits, landlord visits (who doesnt give a fuck... understanding that its normal to make a bit of noise... Because I really dont mix or make tunes at an extremely high volume... occasionally, when i play it back... yes... but not the whole time)

So... the complaints just kept coming and coming... so i took it on myself to walk next door and try and figure out a "reasonable" volume level for the relative times of the day... I.e. how loud can i be during the day... and how loud at night...

at that proposal... I got the reply "Just dont make ANY noise, because i cant do anything when you play music."

Still, i didnt walk away in a rage... i just thought.. WHAT A PRICK.

Soon after, a petition came through our door... as it had through every other door on our street... it was a petition against us... led by the woman next door who seems to pull some weight around the area, because most of the signatures weren't from our street!

Our landlord didnt tell us about the petition, because he was worried we might move out at the prospect of getting an ASBO...

We have tried everything... from being polite about the whole thing to even dealing with absolute silence to avoid her stupid complaints...

At the end of the day... if my housemates, who arent particularly in love with loud music, can deal with it... and they are IN my house... then the tnuc next door can as well... believe me... its not even that loud...

But obviously there are boundaries... I dont play music after 11...

This is actually a sad story, most people don't even go through that consideration, putting people up in a BnB and such, bottle of wine and shit...Just seems like that woman next door is bored or fucked off and has someone to take it out on... seriously loud music doesn't bother people THAT much, does it? The old biddies a few doors down to me always give me a smile and go.. "having with your boom boom music?" ... Some people are just bitter and love making other peoples lifes wank.
