Ok. Then taking a note from what you consider proper protocol, I'll be kind enough to inform you that you were rude, dismissive, and illogical (because to judge one genre by another genres standards completely misses the mark). Your graduated attacks belie your concern over those poor people who stumbled on the video for an explanation of dubstep. You assert that this video will be used as some sort of standard for dubstep, which this never was nor did the producer intend it to be so. Your parenthetical notation above was only included to be further derisive, which is not only rude, but a thinly veiled half assed backwards compliment so that if further pressed you could backtrack and say, "Hey I never did say they were bad."Constrobuz wrote:1. i never said the remixes (lol) were bad.
2. if everyone posted shitty tracks on here and everyone else was always like "wow big tune mate, 320?" then those producers are just encouraged to make shitty tracks. if someone does post some wack shit you gotta call them out on it, and note specifically why their music is bad, then they can work on it.
My point was that in the hip hop world, that is considered a remix, as in the dubstep world so are mine.Constrobuz wrote:no. i'm not a fan of that practice either lol.kidlogic wrote:But taking the same song and adding another rapper doing an extra verse while not changing anything else about the tune is?
What's your point? Im sure loads of people everyday hear dubstep and say the same thing. Isnt the point of a remix to sound different than the original, regardless of what genre its been made into? Consider it downtempo if its not dubstep enough for you then.Constrobuz wrote:but people who dont know what dubstep is who hear your remixes are gonna be like "umm where are the verses? is this an instrumental? it sounds different though..."kidlogic wrote:It is dubstep - Its at 140 and has subbass. That is the agreed upon definition of dubstep, at least here on this board.
I said I liked how it was used, not that I necessarily wanted to play the hip hop tune. Key words in that being 'how it was used'.Constrobuz wrote:kidlogic wrote:I didnt want to sample the source material on '93 till because I like how it was used in the hip hop tune. I also wanted to use the vocals, but there is no accapella anywhere that I could find, and I looked for three days.
whats the point in remixing it then, if you liked it the way it is?
Constrobuz wrote:if you wanted to do that you could just pitch it down... this is what i dont understand. you're making a remix but you just wanted to recreate dilla's flip of a sample.kidlogic wrote:On the Pharcyde remix I did sample the original Stan Getz tune, because I wanted more flexibility with trying to make it sound more like Dilla's / the Pharcyde's version at a slower tempo.
Hmmm... Ill have to look into that... the domain is just a redirect to www.virb.com/extranormous - so in the meantime, just go to it directly...KellyDean wrote:extranormous website down.

Might I make a suggestion to you that perhaps you could take to heart?
Following your civic duty to alert an artist to your subjective opinion, I will do my civic duty to alert you of making a shitty post. You represented yourself in such a manner that will make it harder for people to ever hear you if you don't know how to communicate with others. Perhaps you can work on your communication skills as they definitely need improvement.
Also....real strength and pride and courage comes from knowing when to shut up as much as when to speak.
Lastly, you don't have to say something negative to show you're paying attention. Sometimes people feel like they have to say something bad when someone else is praised because they feel like they're being slighted with attention. You want attention so bad? Make something so good that someone else posts up on dubstepforum praising you. Make that your new goal....because it never elevates you to tear someone else down...you don't become better by making someone look bad....in fact, you just make yourself look worse.
this was my point.kidlogic wrote:Isnt the point of a remix to sound different than the original, regardless of what genre its been made into?
if it makes you feel any better i've had diarrhea all day.kidlogic wrote:Are those answers good for you? Is it ok? Ive had the fucking worst day today, and this bullshit of yours has only made it even worse. So thanks for your contribution, its really been nice.
So let me get this straight... Youre saying it isnt a remix because it sounds like the original, but that people will be confused because it doesnt sound like the original and they wont know what it is?Constrobuz wrote:this was my point.kidlogic wrote:Isnt the point of a remix to sound different than the original, regardless of what genre its been made into?
Diarrhea of the mouth? You've had that longer than a day...Constrobuz wrote:if it makes you feel any better i've had diarrhea all day.kidlogic wrote:Are those answers good for you? Is it ok? people will be confused because it sounds like original but without the verses and hence not a remix (in a hip hop fans eyes).kidlogic wrote: So let me get this straight... if you can't spare a minute to read a post, then you must not be able to actually OPEN your mind up a bit and listen to a track for more than 10 seconds?Constrobuz wrote:willingness to read long posts on message boards and taste in music are unrelated.bellybelle wrote:well if that was too much for you, why would i trust in your opinion about quality?
i do hope that was short enough...

Have you even heard the original? Im seriously asking, because for you to say it sounds just like the original, but without the lyrics is just dumb.Constrobuz wrote:people will be confused because it sounds like original but without the verses and hence not a remix (in a hip hop fans eyes).kidlogic wrote: So let me get this straight...
