tbh this is an embarrasment. Anyone who isnt muscially retarded will laugh at this song and think, this dubstep thing is shit!
I dont want dubstep to become mainstream anyway. Theres such a good vibe atm that the type of exposure dnb has got its just one big drunken brawl at most, not all, but a lot of festivals e.g INOVATIION. i hope dubstep never turns into that.

allow all the negativy on here bout this , this can only lead on2 big things , plus i think the tunes quite big neway , but aside to wether you like it or not , why shud u care , ok then u fink he ruined the track but did he remix it and make it commercial friendly , nah , the same raw beat is there , pisses me off when someone says something stupid like ahh producers are jus greedy , why shouldnt they make some money off all the hard work they put in , if you can make a living off dubstep in the future then great , love for the music or no love u still need to make money in this world

I dont get why everybody thinks that people think Snoop Dogg is stealing dubstep or something? Most people just think the song is a bit swag, not that its going to destroy dubstep and our precious sort of undergroundish scene is going to crumble before our eyes.

I for one would love to see a dubstep tune in the charts one day, I just dont think this is the one to do it. (Appreciate that its not really a dubstep tune).

Millionaire - shit vocals ruining a good tune.

Which, lets be fair, is the way loads of instrumental electronic tunes get ruined so that they can become more radio friendly/mainstream, its been happening for years. We just have to accept it and move on.

Deep Dish - Flashdance, Fragma - Toca Me, Nalin & Kane - Beachball... OK pretty crap examples, but you get the idea....

one thing that hasn't been mentioned is that dubstep appeals to the "crunk" listeners out there first of all and it's no wonder some hip hop heads have picked up on it. there's already more out there, probably a lot more. i could imagine snoop heard the tune, liked the samples and thought this is the one.

i played it last night.

yea dnb barely got this exposure, i think the high point was Adam F and his whole hip hop/dnb crossover album.

time to get over it. it's inevitable!

edit* and pendululm making it big and selling out doesnt really compare to this... 2 totally different ideas. it's not like pendulum got lil wayne involved, they did it on their own.

and i will say i would rather hear a different vocal over it, this one really does ruin it.

true dubstep fans will still know what its all about. so what if a mainstream artist noticed a dubstep track he liked and... destroyed it. if anything, it might get make a few people *think* they love dubstep, only to have them run out of the first dubstep show they go to crying when they hear what dubstep's really about.

although i think bigbasha had a point about the whole crunk thing. dubstep and rap vocals go together very well, i hear it at shows around here all the time. i'm actually surprised it's taken this long for a rapper to "remix" a dubstep track instead of the other way around.

In the context of the "dubstep should stay underground" debate, appreciating Snoop Dogg is comparatively broad minded, yes. Chase & Status are doing far more damage to dubstep than Snoop Dogg.

i take your point but you can't make people want commercial shit if thats not what they're into. a lot of the original dubstep fans are into underground music because they like dark, abstract and unusual music with masses of bass that is influenced by a very broad range of music. you could say that in their tastes they are more broad minded than the average POP fan.

chase and status have done some great tunes but i don't like their recent bid for pop stardom. good luck to them tho - just not my cup of tea

I don't think its going to change dubstep one bit to be honest.

few reasons:

1. C&S are so well known now anyway, appearing on cd's like "Ministry Of Sound: Addicted To Bass 09" and shit like that - people allready know who they are without the help of Snoop Diggity Dog.

2. Those who don't know who they are generally don't have an interest in electronic music - they are like the Pendulum of today, if you're into dance, you've heard of them.

3. Dubstep isn't music for everyone - alot of people don't like the diversity and distance from normal "sounds" you hear - this isn't going to change cause of one track, people are still going to walk into my room and say "What the FUCK are you listening to".

Relax, our niche is still a niche.

The depressing thing about Chase & Status is they were initially involved with the early dubstep scene, fucked it off because there was more money in D&B, proceeded to make some of the worst examples of the modern incarnation of that genre (i.e. paying more attention to the limiter and the top line than the actual beats and bass), and then when the money moved to dubstep they switched back. You don't get much more cynical than that really.
