True. Creating every sound from scratch is more to do with pride than anything. I guess big names use presets all the time, and because they get theior tunes done quickly, they can focus on getting their music out there instead of worrying about how to make x sound like y.

Agree with this. I recently produced a breaks track and every sound in it (bar the drums) was produced from scratch.
The feeling of completing that track compared to others I've done where I've used presets or samples but changed them to make them 'my own' was totally different as I knew that it was MY work.
Much more fulfulling.
