worst of all jumping on every fucking thread when a newcomer who has only just heard of dubstep wants some pointers and showing them the tune you are currently spamming when they might never have even heard of mala or whoever else

i'm getting sick of it, if the tune's good people will discuss it - shameless self promotion shouldn't be allowed and is against the rules

isn't it?

EDIT: O yeah of course if done tastefully self promotion is a vital part of this forum, i am talking about when people TAKE THE PISS
I totally agree

This is probably the best example where the label owners (one in particular) bumped it 10 times just on the last page.

Damn, are you some kind of pornstar mathematician?

I kind of agree, but it's pretty hard to mod this kind of thing.

I mean, I hadn't checked out the forum in a few weeks, and when you come on now, most of the threads that might have interested me have been engulfed by hordes of -=****ALL CAPITALISED BUY MY NEW RELEASE***=-- threads.

I sympathise though, as everyone needs to pimp their wares somehow, and I can't see anyone seriously visiting a promo only page on this forum.

It's just a bit sad that the frontpage looks a bit like my email spam folder.

But that's success for you!

it's bloody disgusting behaviour, I agree, and it reeks of insecurity and desperation. too many wank digital labels flinging their uninspired shit in everyone's faces. they've got a lot to learn from labels like deep medi and hyperdub. lose the banner ads, lose the waste press releases, and lose the fucking thread bumps.

Haha,

Funny you mention that, but someone just sent a stealth marketing PM, before I'd even posted in here, asking me to check out some trainers site.

Anyways, getting rid of the spam is a difficult choice...

But it's the choice of a new generation

it sounds to me like almost everyone who doesn't have somebody like mala or scuba pushing him is already insecure and/or desperate, but playing cocky on internets :D

and i hope out of those insecure people some of them are really talented.
but they'll be lost between threads like this and those about everything you've already got bored with

The flipside to this is how it's been passed off as "ok" to push the already popular, already very pushed artists on someone when they will most likely find those artists on their own because they're mentioned 50 billion times on this damn board. Seriously, it's somehow bullshit to suggest something more obscure but ok to mention something already as well known as Mala? Please...

It's one thing to go into a thread already dedicated to a certain artist/release and spam your own shit in there, that's lame(and yes, it does happen more than it should on this board). However, I don't hold it against anyone trying to keep attention on threads devoted to their own topics. If it bothers one so much that someone is bumping a thread of their own to keep it visible, why talk shit here? Why not PM them and go direct to the source? I promise you threads like this will do nothing to stop what's bothering you.

This brings me to a much larger beef I have with this forum. This forum is one of the most front-runner boards I've EVER seen. Only certain artists/DJ's/etc get the thumbs up here and others get ignored, and I'm not sure it's totally arbitrary, either. For someone who might be in the latter group, and they really feel they have something worth showing to the rest of this forum, fuck yeah they need to keep bumping their threads. It may be the louder, more active members of this board that gets bothered, but there will be more obscure members of this board who *will* eventually pay attention. These are the kinds of responses that most care about, not the bitchiness of regulars on this board.

hehe, can't you just hear the self-consciousness in that post?

i agree with everything you have just said cal cutta...

the part you mentioned about the front runner doesnt just go for this board, it goes for the publisher's & bloggers..

the only thing that winds me up are the press releases, thats just waste, tell us the release date & a soundclip will do...

less talk more music
