If your willing to spend some dough, Reaktor is literally an endless supply(combined with user library) of synths and effects that are great for any genre of electronic music. I don't know about the sequencers and samplers though, I really just use Reaktor for unique effects and the synths. The Subharmonic synth in Reaktor can give you some morbidly obese bass.

As far as a cheap hardware synth goes, I highly recommend the Alesis Micron.

I'd recommend Absynth 3. In my opinion, its one the best soft synths since the Win 98 stand alone version of TS 404.

i never found absynth 3 to be too good for bass, just them 1 key textures that are too wild to fit into any tracks. Mind you i havent got the compulsory PHD thats required to figure out the interface.
