As for your point, yes. No-one's trying to say D-Malice invented a syncopated house beat, that'd be too jokes. As if I had just boy'd off Calabria 2008 differently. But the *current UK Funky sound as pushed by Lil Silva etc.* is comprised of more elements than a syncopated house beat. And while many of these elements might well trace their lineage back through the history of house and funky house, several of these elements (bass presence, going A.R.D etc) seem more readily identifiable with non-house, british genres such as dubstep, grime, a fact that is attested to by the production histories of many of the UK Funky's most prolific producers (gloss that off myspace).
I could also go 70000 words over the limit on my article discussing the (in my opinion) less interesting, less relevant precursors (ie. in what ways the music is the same, not different and fresh) but I don't think it would add much.
Well interesting what you say about the whole holiday destination tip though, I think you're probably on to something...
