the latest version has rewire so yes
Awesome, I'm downloading the demo version now...

Another quick question, how do you like the bundled DSP effects (Reverb, delay, compressor, distortion, flanger, phaser, EQ)?

Do you like the sond of them or to you tend to go for a more fancy VST plug?
The effects are great, I use them almost exclusively.

Cheers guys, I think you've sold it to me. I'm playing around with the demo version now, and it has a lot of extras compared to the laster tracker I used (FT2).

I think I'm gonna try creating a few basic tunes and see how I get on. :)

Expect a few more questions when I get stuck!

big up vertex for taking the time to learn renoise! you wont be sorry. I pretty much use the native renoise effects exclusively. Sometimes if i want some really gorgeous reverb i'll bring a sample into logic and record it with space designer or something, but usually im using renoise.

I'll run outboard synths through distortion when im recording to renoise, or just push the shit out of analogue desk gain. im usually using the onboard distortion though - it's good, and you can always chain it together with more than one.

Also, does anyone know of any good timestreching vsts/AUs? I hate that 09xx crap.
True sidechaining isn't possible in Renoise, because tracks can only send, not receive signals .. However, you can simulate sidechain compression
and it has been done often by LFO'ing the volume.

For timestretching: dBlue made a good timestretch VST and OSX comes
with a free timstretcher audio unit.

Didn't try the LFO thing but there's a VST called sidekick which you can use in Renoise.
Don't recall exactly how it works but it's easy to setup and works well.

Is there any .rx2 files from Recycle? Ideally I'd like to be able to be able to import a breakbeat and trigger slices?

Cheers, I'm going thru the "quickstart tutorial" and there are a lot of thing I like like being able to have loops within the samples and the great ADSR curves. I've still got a way to go before I can finish a tune however... I really like Renoise so far tho. :)

No .REX support (yet) I'm afraid.
