i dont deny that dubstep comes to quite a large degree from grime, but tbh you dont need to like the origins of a style of music to like it. jazz comes from gospel music, which i dont like, but i do like jazz. rock comes from blues, which im not particularly into, but i love me a bit of rock music.
Wus the difference between Grime and Dubstep?

grime been dead for a few yrs. but was something special in its day. and afaik hasnt been replaced yet.Neurotik wrote:Grime is more based around an MC following and now is just an image to me which lacks diversity and talent compared to dubstep. I used to love grime instrumental years back until the MC following got hold of it and turned it into what it is today. It started to get very repetetive, the creative values were lost to "suck ur mom", and became confined to this whole overcompensatory badman image. I would guess there is a remnant of decent and impressive musicians doing grime but most are impressionable preteen school children with a bedroom pc and a cracked version of FL. When i started listening to dubstep it was like climbing out of a small box into an infinite universe of open mindedness and creativity. You can pretty much go where you want with dubstep, the music takes a whole lot of mastery of production equipment and techniques, and it remains about the music and positive influence.

oh thats a shame there are alot of technically good uk hip hop artists about ...most of them were rhyming way before grime came along have a look for taskforce, phi life cypha, roots manuva, jehst, kashmere....theres alot of good uk hip hop artist out there that are in no way connected to grime.Deadly Habit wrote:when i think uk rap i generally think shit in general so it's easy to lump them togetherDepone wrote:Your very much wrong. sorry.Deadly Habit wrote:grime is a uk rap thing pretty much
When i think of uk rap (hiphop) think of forien beggaz, Skinnyman etc... These are not grime.
Grime is more of a garage based influence, faster and harder. I cant stand grime in my honest opinion. Its not the music so much, its the wanna be rudeboys that listen to it. You cant get on a bus in london these days with out some shitty grime blaring out of some girls chavvy mobile phone.
When I got into dubstep and started tracing back...some of the stories I heard from grime merely reminded me of some of the shit that started happening in US Hip Hop, and to a FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR lesser extent Canadian Hip Hop.
Various people stabbing/shooting each other over some beef that happened at a club months before. Ridiculous.
Something about some supergroup in grime and how either one of their members was killed, or killed somebody.

depends what u mean by "good". if u mean technically okay but working in a musical genre they didnt invent and havent really contributed anythign new to beyond finally quitting putting on an american accent, then yeah. if on the other hand u think that 4something 2b good it needs to be original, fresh, exciting, genuine, forward-thinking and appropriate for the time and place in which its created (i.e not still fucking harping back to some golden age of hip hop in the bronx 1981) then no. they're mostly shit.Naus wrote:theres alot of good uk hip hop artist out there that are in no way connected to grime.
grime IS uk hip hop. that other thing ppl call uk hip hop is mostly just substandard american hip hop made by some english ppl. and we dont even have the excuse the french have (who also produce just american hip hop, and mostly comemercial shit at that) in that they dont understand the lyrics of the original so they need to make their own.
if u want hip hop then listen to the real thing. if u want good, original british MCing... then there is only grime.[/i]

I dont know you but just from this post I can tell you are a twat. How dare you make a fucking racist genralisation about the people on this forum. Are these your actual views or are you the type of brainless pussy who likes saying vile things just to try and get a rise out of people?Mico Viejo wrote:if u think dubstep sounds like grime its cos dubstep has a huge debt to grime.
lets b honest here, grime is/was made by britain's ethnically mixed working-class, and grime invented this shit. dubstep is mostly made by white middle-class who have ripped off the innovations of grime.
yeah its a huge generalisation that ignores the input of a lot of ppl who have genuinely innovated withing dubstep, but its essentially true.
just look at the ppl on this forum: mostly posh white geeks sitting behind their computers typing "bambaaclaat" from the safety of some provincial backwater
flame away....
If your so fucking ghetto why dont you tell us where you come from and what race you are tough guy? Im willing to bet your name is fucking Clarence or Charles and you still live at home in Chesire with your fucking mother because the thought of not having her to wipe your ass and suck your balls is just too much to bear.
You and people like you that share your views have no place within the dubstep community. You are not wanted and you have nothing to offer, so why dont you be a man for once in your pitiful hate filled life and fuck off once a for all.
