any problem you get like this in a studio you've got to be very systematic and find where the problems coming from, so you need to do little 'experiments' that give you answers, eventually you find where the problem lies and then you know where to concentrate your efforts further otherwise you'll be wasting you time changing things that don't need changing etc...

eg. swap the cartridges, if the problem switches to the other deck then its the cartridge, or the stylus. if not then switch the phono cables into the mixer, if the problem is still on the same deck then its the mixer. etc etc.
