actually that is still a tune i listen to a lot...amazing...the b-side is maybe better though!...alien tongue is so beautifully constructed and atmospheric..the tones are something a lot of new jump up producers should listen to for a lesson on musicTeReKeTe wrote: pinch & P dutty war dub.

I maintain that the best mix covering this period is Joe Nice's first Lost Dubs special:
Part 1 - http://www.riddim.ca/audio/JoeNice_Lost ... RT_ONE.zip
Part 2 - http://www.riddim.ca/audio/JoeNice_Lost ... RT_TWO.zip
Part 1 - http://www.riddim.ca/audio/JoeNice_Lost ... RT_ONE.zip
Part 2 - http://www.riddim.ca/audio/JoeNice_Lost ... RT_TWO.zip
This mix contains a lot of my favourites from that era.......

All the people in it from as early as like 2000-2005 are so lucky
. I wish so much that i could of got into it then but like Bandshell said in 2002 i was 11 also ha. Would of been so frustrating being that ages and not being able to go to anything ha.
2005 sounded like a sick time, DMZ (night) starting up, releases like Goat Stare, Neverland, Toasty Boy was around, first Skreamizm etc. Skream's mix from 2004 that is available for download is amazing as well. Oh yeah and Youngsta and Task Rinse session. Amazing.
I ended up coming into it Mid-last year (been just over a year now) and i haven't looked back since, there hasn't been a day since then that i haven't listened to this music in one way or another
. Started DJ'ing, producing, going to London to go to events (DMZ, Outlook, Why Not? etc.).
Proper life changing genre for me.

I really dont get you guys! well I wasnt around back then so I really wouldnt know, but why are you moaning so much over todays selection?
I think theres being produced some badass tunes these days.
whats wrong with jump up/ agressive hyped bass thrill tunes? I deffinalty for one like to be pumped up by some sick tune, being taken away, with no choise but to jump up and down.
At the same time I also like to slowly swing from side to side puffing my spliff just feeling those deep deep tracks,
but I could never choose a favourite between the two.

I think it needs to be said every day, for the rest of all time! But yeah, I totally did.86 Position wrote:I think you mentioned this in another thread.CrowleyHead wrote:As I repeat, I caught on the very tail end, but the tune that made me lose my shit...
Kode9 - Kingstown
The little chime noise, the fucked synths cutting through, the random reggae chord just slapping you out of nowhere.
Brilliant.
Same man, that tune is the shit. Pure sub
Still though, I look back at early dubstep, and while I do love some of it, there are certain tunes that usually do it for me.
Like... DMZ, cool, Loefah, yeah. Skream and Benga... as absurd as this sounds, not so much for me (Don't shoot!). But every time I listen to that old-school Kode stuff, I lose it. Plus, some of those dubs he was really bashing (Calenda "Forever" for example.)

I was getting into it around 2005.... that's when I realized how much I loved the DMZ label and meticulously tracked down that + all the stuff I liked on Tectonic, etc.
