One of my favourite bands for a long time are Soulive.

Check them out. They've been at it since maybe '02.

They kill it.

check out Explorations in Afrobeat by Euforquestra for some african induced funk. the new mastersounds are also great and check out some old school Herbie Hancock albums for some psychedellic funk like the song Chameleon from Head Hunters or the entire Thrust album. The Funky Meters and Stevie Wonder are also good old school funk.
