Trying but failing horribly, it's good fun though

Hi. I was here, am present, and am currently absent minded.
Re: Is anyone still making deep? [Medi NOT Dungeon]
Lol i guess mala is hard act to follow, what i meant was that most producers (who are unknown) are making dungeon. some are good, some are bad but most are generic.hudson wrote:Well he's got a really unique style that is hard to copy because it's not defined by the sounds he uses (like it is with brostep artists), it's more about vibe and pacing and harmony than anything. There isn't exactly a "Medi" plug in or synth preset.Sinestepper wrote:I try too but its often so difficult when i compare my self to him :/Soulstep wrote:You don't really see many people at the "up and coming" level making deep. i would bet that mala is the most popular on this forum yet hardly anyone makes tunes in the same vein as him.
No one seems to take influence from the more musical/vibes side of the genre (apart from Sonika, who's tunes have been getting better and better)
My point is i just wanna hear more vibes

Re: Is anyone still making deep? [Medi NOT Dungeon]
'Dungeon' and producers thereof are (largely speaking) a fucking joke. It's just morphed into what neurofunk became in a the DnB scene a few years back. Wanky self referential producers putting sound design techniques over actual song writing, as though all the resampling in the world can suddenly compensate for a lack of originality.

Hm, pretty damn soulful. I liked it, nothing really I can say, sounds like something very non unoriginal in the direction of dubstep

Burial isnt dubstep, fuck off.

Neurofunk and dungeon to EDM is like what joe satriani and steve vai is to rock music..the appreciation of the skill level of what is going on outshadows the musicallity..i dont think its necessarily a bad thing if you truely enjoy itwub wrote:'Dungeon' and producers thereof are (largely speaking) a fucking joke. I can understand it and why it happens, but it's far too ouroboros-esque for my liking. Plus it breeds bad habits on n00b producers who think resampled bass + long attack = ZOMG.JTMMusicuk wrote:Neurofunk and dungeon to EDM is like what joe satriani and steve vai is to rock music..the appreciation of the skill level of what is going on outshadows the musicallity..i dont think its necessarily a bad thing if you truely enjoy itwub wrote:'Dungeon' and producers thereof are (largely speaking) a fucking joke. Re: Is anyone still making deep? [Medi NOT Dungeon]
I've been doing the more melodic stuff from the start I suppose; did try making 'dungeon' - didn't really work out so well. I'm pretty much still at the start but my (amateur) efforts are sticking to somewhat deeper stuff for now.
Think I'd rather toil away unknown than make robrostep.

Both WIP's, and they both have some pretty obvious problems in them in terms of arrangement, a couple small things aren't on beat l0l
Anyway, I love deep dubstep <3

I agree that in a fair few cases dungeon is just the product of mass resampling with some darkness thrown about.
But you can't slate all dungeon producers, there are some who incorporate melodic influences from other genres and who also make exceptional use of percussion ...

Melody is wank anyway. Making interesting music without melody is crazy hard though.Gewze wrote:i'd make a melody if i had any musical ability
