Yeah that happens to me in the studio sometimes. Get parched but too engrossed to realise that's why I feel like shite.

Agreed, but I am actually curious to see what the haters can do. I sent my track in already.

I guess, but I still fail to see what the point is. I understand it can all be a bit of fun, but this is a "battle," yea? So these tunes have to be evaluated. So what is the evaluation criteria? How close it is to an established style and sound created by a few people? How cheesy and over the top it is? If we're scoring tunes based on negative values, then it means the tunes that are further away from these values (i.e. original, not corny, and so probably further from the "brostep" sound) are going to be scored lower despite actually being better tunes.

So the winner is essentially who can make generic, unoriginal music based on a template created by other people and adhering to what everybody knows is a low standard. It just doesn't sound like something to be proud of. So I guess the part I don't understand is the actual "tournament" part of it. Again, I'm not trying to be a wet blanket, it just seems like a contest where the winner won't really have much to be proud of.

gah numerous attempts and I can't get something cohesive... Will make a last-ditch effort tonight!

Also, certain people need to stay out of these threads because they end up saying completely ignorant and stupid things. Don't dig the sound? Then fuck off. Simple.

Chill out mate, it is a bit of fun, dont take it so seriously. And the winner is whoever gets the most votes because they made the most enjoyable track. Voting isnt based on 'the most generic sound'

Yeah that's kind of why I don't understand it; there's members of the forum who normally make this sound and maybe are even trying to stand out and be original within that, and they're competing with people who don't like or make the sound and are doing it as a joke. So I'm not really sure what criteria we're supposed to evaluate with, since I would think there are two different goals competing against each other.

I would just feel bad if someone who makes brostep comes with something original and loses to a guy who says "this stuff is easy" and churns out something boring, and I would also feel bad if someone lost to a more original tune because they thought they were supposed to make it generic and based on past sounds and deliberately held back some interesting ideas thinking that was the point.

So again, I don't think this thing is a bad idea at all, I'm just a little confused (obviously) as the point seems a little unclear.

No need to tell me to chill out or not to take it seriously, I'm just bored at work and posting my opinion for the sake of discussion really. I'm honestly not the least bit worked up about it. If it's going to offend people or seems overly serious or aggressive, I don't mind deleting it (although you've already quoted it, haha). If it's just gonna bring drama, it's not really worth it.

I don't think I've ever seen somebody so needlessly and consistently make a bit of fun so boring and complicated.

ah shit, and now I've quoted you quoting me.

Anyway, the original "I look forward to regretting listening to these" was a total joke, so hopefully nobody gets all upset about that one.

I just read through the beginning of the thread again, and I feel a bit more justified in my confusion when the rules are "Let's see who can make the best/worst brostep tune" and you've got half of the people saying they're going to make generic crap and others who seem like they're making stuff they like.

Either way, have fun, I will listen and vote, and maybe comment, maybe not. Like now, it depends on the downtime at work =P
