just from this episode-

-sir rodrik does not die by theon's hand in the book..
-reek is completely missing
-danaerys's dragons were never taken from her. thats total bullshit. my guess hbo is planning is using the warlocks to do it, luring her to the house of the undying, however danaerys was lured there originally because of desperation to get boats or allies... dunno why it was necessary to make such a stupid change.
-sansa does not get attacked during the riots.. however other minor characters do which are not in the show. hbo sensationalizing..

it is kind of standard fare for tv programs to 'sensationalise' to some extent, when you've got half this thread saying basically after the second book or whatever is total crap then im not arsed they might have made slight changes to the original story, i can see how it might be slightly irritating having read the books and not seeing it recreated exactly scene for scene but does it make it a bad show?

if anyone said this book series is crap after the second book, they are complete and utter idiots.

the changes i wrote are changes just from that episode alone, there have been so many more, and its not something slightly being changed. the characters jojen and meera are completely missing and they were major characters involved with bran and his future destiny, especially jojen's ability to have what is called greensight, a magical ability which lets him see into the future through his dreams. he was the one who told bran of the oceans taking winterfell originally because he envisioned it in a dream. this all plays big time into future events in the story. the character dontos is for the most part completely taken out of the major story and plays a large role with sansa involved with the main storyline, and has a subtle yet extremely important role in book three, with the demise of one very important character. roose bolton is supposed to be at harrenhal instead of tywin lannister, why they made this change and not introduce roose at this time is beyond me, because he also becomes an very important character, and his house makes the lannister's evils look like a mercy. i have been looking over lots of the changes and letting them pass, but the events which derail from the main story are happening more and more and its becoming kind of silly. im going to still watch it, but the idea that danaerys would let anything happen to her dragons is fucking insane. she is too smart and too strong to let some qartheen take them from her.

and to answer your question about making it a bad show, its not a bad show i just wish they stuck to the main story a bit more accurately because its awesome. there really is no reason not to.

tbh i knd of understand why they made danys story more exciting, otherwise its just her wandering around qarth for ages, i'm not feeling the way littlefinger seemingly teleports around the place though

speeding dany's events up is not a problem. drastically changing them? unnecessary and annoying. they should have just had her go to the undying like was originally written.. coulda happened this episode.. taking the dragons is different.. especially because drogon (her black dragon) accompanies her to the undying. i can't say more or it will spoil it, but you should know what happens hutyluty

roose is with robb yes, and sent his bastard, but reek, as mentioned earlier, is completely removed, and has a big part in book five, which plays with roose's bastard. im trying to be vague and make my point at the same time heh. when arya is roose's cupbearer, you get to know to fear and despise him. this relationship is not being developed with the audience because tywin is there instead.
