Apart from all the armchair sociologists/activist/changeists waxing lyrical about the ramifications/politics/intellectual reasonings, it's mainly just:
a) a lot of people being unhappy and becoming more unhappy over the last few years
b) the ever increasing loss of trust that the police keep accruing in the last decade
c) a Tory government during a period of financial disaster
Didn't have to be this guy who got shot who set it off. Could've been any number of things.
It's just a lot of angry people venting frustration. With no motive apart from that. Yes, even breaking in and stealing shit is venting.
However, as some people in this thread have already done, political groupings across the country are going to take full advantage of these anger riots, and co-opt it into their political agenda regardless of whether the rioters give two shits about their political ideologies.

I've not always been a fan of Livingston but he's been the best speaker on BBC News over the last hour or so since I've been following their coverage

theresa may made herself sound like an idiot, really giving no information what so ever, just empty threats.
create a society where there are council estates with people struggling, opposite 5million pound gated houses, where people are minted. and this is what happens.

Agree with May typical focus on the criminality with no consideration for the conditions that precurse this type of behaviour.
It just brings home whenever they talk about the acting commisioner of the Met that the previous incumbent is gone because of the Met's corruption

Watching BBC now. Standard reaction. The minute you use violence the cause is null and void. The reaction is the focus.
Feel bad for some of these businesses I'm seeing as they're obviously not chains and are privately owned small business owners. Their lives are fucked, their workers not making much money are likely shit out of luck, some of the housing that is just tertiary damage likely ruining lives.
Can't imagine any human being who has ever worked for anything in their bitch made lives could think this is a fucking good thing. Sad sad stuff
