Yeaahh... dont think you can crossfade midi in cubase either...
Whats so long about the automation??? Cubase has an almost identical way of acessing automation.
aha well in reason it is so easy to automate and in logic when I try to set the point of automation in a wobble like say I have it at an 1/8th and I'm trying to get it to immediately change to 1/4th it erases the point that I had at an 1/8th and it just slopes down from 1/8th to 1/4th. I know there is a thread on here that clarifies the whole automation thing but I just think it takes too long imo...I love logic's interface and the stock synths it comes with but just some stuff is to frustrating.
Thats actually something I've been wondering about. If I have an instrument and I want it to change settings, such as an LFO going from 1/8 to 1/4 like hypefiend said, is it necessary to make a new track with the same instrument/effects but a different speed, or can I somehow do it all in one audio track?
well, I have tried using different instruments set at a different rate but I get this clicking noise...
Try pressing K on your keyboard to turn off the clicking.

Its easy, its the same principle. Lets take the classic tape delay for example... ok so you got a reggae skank on an audio channel, now by using the sends, send it to an auxillary. Insert a delay now at 100 wet. Turn its feedback right down. Now send this to another bus, say the one up from it... now on that bus send the signal back to the original one, but turn off its own output. Now hopefully you have a gnarly feedback loop

always forget about this one ahahaha

workflow habits are so hard to break when theyre bad :(

thx much man, i forgot about it :D
you can also go into preferences and make it so ur pointer tool (arrow) changes to the fade tool when you hover in the top right of a region

The whole time I've used logic I've neevr known about this feature, I feel bad that I don't know shit about this program. I still love it though, I just don't use a majority of what it has to offer.

Left is for left click, middle is for cmd + click and right is for right click.

not really a logic question but a logic related question:
i'm an ex logic user who's now working with windows (reaper), and i sorely miss a few plugins which i haven't found a suitable alternative to (and yes, i tried searching kvraudio but there's gazillions of plugins to search through):
- delay designer ("multitap delay" didnt yield good results)
- vocal transformer, i dont even know how to call such a plugin

hope this fits in the thread, didn't want to open a new one for it.

Erm, HOW THE FUCK DUDE?

Edit: Thinking about it, I think this would confused me too much lol... I've come to be too used to how I use Logic to change something as major as this... I'd rather keep my right click as if it was a ctrl+click. Real nice idea for people who're willing to make the mental effort to change or for newbies!

It seriously speeds your production. Takes no time to get used to it. I permanately have cmd click as a write button for midi or for regions.

Share the wealth then mayn ;) Would be good to know even if I don't like it myself...

I think it would be most handy for me in the MIDI editor as I don't ever write on the arrange page because I record straight out of my MIDI keyboard... But on the MIDI editor I could have arrow, scissors and velocity which would be handy!

Sweet man sussed it! Wasn't actually too blatant even though the preference was self-explanitory in a way!

For anybody interested it's in preferences >> general >> editing >> "Right Mouse Button: Is Assignable to a Tool"

I can see myself getting used to this actually bro, thanks for the heads up ;)

So I'd like to start synthesizing my own snares. For now I only plan on using whatever came with logic, so I was wondering, what should I use for this, Ultrabeat or ES2?

And also, does anyone know of any good tuts or info on synthesizing drums.
Thanks

Others may disagree and I'm no moderator but you may have more luck searching for the answer to this question on other threads as this one is more of a synthesis-specific question as opposed to Logic.

Regarding the part that is about Logic though - Either Ultrabeat or ES2 will be fine, depending on the preferred sound you're going for.

Don't be lazy - "How to synthesise drum sounds" on Google isn't hard work :H:
